I liked the style of this game, the background got the feel of a checkered paper, but I agree that the game lacks something to make the challenge interesting. It’s also a bit odd that the player character can be almost fully outside the screen.
Here are some possible solutions:
- Make the game world warp around and the X and Y axis, that might help some with having the snake stay in the center and the player running in circles around it.
- Make the snake for short intervals not chase the player but just continue straight (or similar) to break up that circulating pattern
- Introduce static or dynamic obstacles in the map that again stop the player from running around the perimeter of the screen.
