Great work submitting making your first ever game and also on submitting a functioning game in a game jam, congrats! It broke on death for me, and also if I fell down. I couldn't shoot but I could run and jump so I could still make my way through the game. Probably slow the frame rate down a bit for the running animation, but the artwork looked good and the death effect was really cool. Keep at it and you will have a fully functioning game loop before you know it!
