Posting your computer specs, including Operating System, RAM, and GPU will help us see if we can figure it out!
My guess would be that the graphics card is too old, but I don't know for sure. Phaos, if you have multiple graphics cards on your PC, try using the other one. RPG Maker games default to using the crappiest one for some reason.
