Have the same error. Received some advice on possible fixes and will attempt them. Will reply if any of them fix it, or reply here in case you end up finding a fix.

My guess would be that the graphics card is too old, but I don't know for sure. Phaos, if you have multiple graphics cards on your PC, try using the other one. RPG Maker games default to using the crappiest one for some reason.
The PC I'm playin on is ancient, it's probably just unable to support playing the game. Worst case is I've supported a developer for an extra ten bucks while I wait for the Steam release to play it on my steamdeck which I'm fine with as an outcome.
