I know that the upgrade icons stacking on top of each other is an error, but it was absurdly fun having the bird become an unstoppable swordbird.

I'm very intrigued by the concept; an rpg-esque god-game where you manipulate the environment. This has some legs to it. I especially like the way the terrain shifts up and down; it's very biomechanical.
