We love the dance too! Thanks for playing our game. Darkness is a design choice (maybe the execution of it went too far). Don't forget to use your character's cell phone too get some light in the darkest areas of the level.
I did use the phone, it was frustrating as it needed some time to light up, but most importantly it wasn't fun to stand and try to see where you are/should go.
