I'm glad you enjoyed it! I spent probably too long on that shop, but it was a lot of fun!
I agree with what you've said too, needs a rebalance. I think this version was before I changed the starting health last minute, so unfortunately its a bit easy. And you are most likely correct with the Awake/Start functions not running... On the todo list! With the enemies firing, its a quirk of the attack system, gonna have a look at that too!
