I guess, but the game that came first was dangerously close to 20 ratings too.

Maybe it would be better to establish the threshold after the jam based on a publicly known formula? Something like the median minus a predetermined amount?

yeah because honestly the more review the harder it is to win, because it is more precise. It is a pretty unstable method of getting an average.

That is what itch does, if you see how it says raw score and score the, raw score is the ratings from everyone and the real score is ratings after being penalized if under the median, but the formula isn’t public afaik
