As long as you had fun and learned something, then you won.
Also, for story games in jams, it might be better to put something at the beginning that alludes to a deeper narrative (basically a really strong hook).
Your game doesn't really have a strong narrative hook because you intentionally hid the story behind the facade of a simple platformer, which would be fine if it wasn't a jam entry.
It cannot be understated just how important first impressions are in jams when most people will only play a game for a few minutes. If you did another story game exactly like this, and just included a stronger hook, it would almost certainly do much better.
