Hey guys! Thanks to everyone who played my game! It did worse than my last jam game which is a shame because I think it was quite a lot better...

Special thanks to:

BreakfastBoii: https://itch.io/profile/breakfastboii

LowQualityRobin: https://itch.io/profile/lowqualityrobin

and sleepl: https://itch.io/profile/sleepl

I'm pretty sure they were the only people who had the dedication to dive deep enough into this game to find an ending. I really appreciate it.

If anybody wants to see the cool stuff I tried to hint at, I think this is the only footage of it:

And I also have the post-jam version up: https://keveatscheese.itch.io/molegans-quest

The post jam version also has a trailer:

Anyway, congratulations to everyone who participated in the jam! I hope we all learned something, I know I did, and also had a great time. I will definitely be here for the 2024.1 jam and I look forward to seeing you all there as well. In the meantime, I'm going to return to work on my main project: a game called Haunt https://keveatscheese.itch.io/haunt.

Haunt is a haunted house-building game where you can upload your haunted house, go online, and visit other haunted houses in survival horror style gameplay, take one or two pieces of furniture from their house(so you can use it to decorate your haunted house), and try to make it back to your house alive. If it sounds interesting, check it out! :)

See y'all next time. My resolution for next time is to make a super simple really polished, and really easy game.

As long as you had fun and learned something, then you won.

Also, for story games in jams, it might be better to put something at the beginning that alludes to a deeper narrative (basically a really strong hook).

Your game doesn't really have a strong narrative hook because you intentionally hid the story behind the facade of a simple platformer, which would be fine if it wasn't a jam entry.

It cannot be understated just how important first impressions are in jams when most people will only play a game for a few minutes. If you did another story game exactly like this, and just included a stronger hook, it would almost certainly do much better.
