Hey Smorty100!
I managed to escape and save like $20 -- haha. I really did try and figure out the 3rd (and possibly 4th ending) but for the life of me could not figure it out. Guessing one is collecting everything in the store?
A couple notes after playing for a bit:
- The monster is SUPER fast. Even when it isn't in full speed mode as we race toward the exit. The sprint recharging as fast as it does definitely helps, but once it is in range of you it's almost a guaranteed death since it knows where you are at all times and just guns it for you.
- I definitely understand the lack of jumping in the game (I am guessing it breaks pathing for the monster?) but it would have been nice to have the jump to get over some obstacles like the tables or large bins and escape the monster when it gets super close.
- If the shopping list was a bit more random and items were in more structured places, like specific aisles, it would make replayability a bit better. Nothing wrong with how it is right now, but I was able to get almost everything just walking up the main aisle and forcing the monster to go back and forth in the aisle next to me.
What I liked:
- The music overall was a ton of fun! The chase music had me stressing out (maybe it was a tad loud, but not a huge deal). The restaurant music was hilarious is the best possible way. When the monster wasn't chasing me I was jamming out just listening to that for a bit. The menu music was great too! Really serene, but also very unsettling.
- I am not sure if you were trying to be comedic, but the story/premise and really dry humor in the text prompts was great. I was chuckling and it made me kind of want to read it aloud in like a 1940s movie gangster voice (no idea why)
- Overall, a solid premise/game idea and I would love to see it expanded and polished up a bit more. A mix of unsettling, uncanny and humorous aesthetics, set inside of an abandoned grocery store could definitely make for an interesting game if the mechanics are expanded! Great job :D
