TL;DR since I made this grossly long, a repeat of what W3r3 W0lf said but with a little more detail.

as W3r3 W0lf said, prolly difference in genre plus context. LD is focused on splitting the content into 4 things, the fights, sex scenes, lore, and romance. Minotaur Hotel is purely a VN I believe and focuses on characters/romance and lore instead of having to split it between sex, lore, fighting and romantic stuff. also the plot from what I know on MH isn't "oh spooky magic things are happening and you gotta solve it" like in LD with the nameless and Northcrest shit, it's just about romancing your preferred character. making it more relatable to people and thus prolly evokes a bit more emotion than LD does. now don't get me wrong, I LOVE LD more than pretty much any game I've ever played, but it's not something I can relate to. I've never fought against a bandit leader to get revenge for my home, I've never made potions to save people from near certain death, I've never fought an unknown entity attempting to corrupt an entire race for a single magic stone. while in MH the MC is just a regular guy who finds love and meets nice characters from myths and such. finding love in myths isn't relatable, but being normal and not having to fight werewolves and corrupted lizard chiefs kinda makes him a lot more similar and relatable to regular people than the MC in LD is making him seem like a more realistic person. and people play the games for different reasons, people who MH are looking for romance and story, because that's how it's advertised/described, while LD is shown to be more sexual and RPG. 

(also side note, LD is fucking amazing and splits everything perfectly in my opinion. I love the story and can't wait for it to be finished so every secret is revealed, the sex is hot as hell, the characters are incredibly well written and feel like real people with how they act and the fights are really fun when I'm not cheating my stats to level 999999 with cookies to one shot. I have yet to play MH, and I do plan eventually to play it but this is just stuff I know from playing LD.)

and last, what was the award? cause LD might not have been eligible to even get it lol. or it might have been voter recommended and no fans of LD saw the post because it didn't have to do with us fans of LD. also everything I've said here is mostly guesses from being just a fan of LD and seeing the occasional mention of MH content from people I follow on twitter.
