Go into the "game" folder and drag your "saves" folder to desktop, then delete old game version and download new version, then open the "game" folder again and drag "saves" into it.
As long as you took out the "saves" folder from the old versions "game" folder before deleting the old version your saves will be available when you put them into the new versions "game" folder
