This is a proper Ue4 game ship tho... If your windows or OS isnt updated and drivers updated then you have something todo.

Steam will help by auto-installing the Visual C++ Redistributables for people but maybe I need to do something special for the Itch builds.

Check here to set up auto-installing requirements from the itch ap: https://itch.io/docs/itch/integrating/prereqs/

This won't make the game work for people installing from direct download though, so maybe include some details in "Install instructions" if you haven't already
