Have you tried using the save to disk option?
SAVES -> Save to disk... -> you will get a save file in your download folder
Whenever you want to resume your progress:
SAVES -> Load from disk... -> Your latest save file.

As an additional suggestion, if you save to a cloud shared folder, you can then save and load from disk on different devices, like a PC or tablet, and synchronise/backup your progress.
