yes, i know this peace. but again I'm talking about the other one, deeper into the Klaus route

(spoiler)

you see Klaus getting into the woods right after supper and decide to run after him. after clearing some of the misunderstandings you arrive at the meadow, to an old grave (with a plate "i walk with a ghosts"). later you can choose to stay at Klaus' instead and if you do become obsessed with him, really. Later you visit Dan with Klaus and he suggests performing some kind of a ritual with evocations in a low deep voice. Klaus wants there to be something beyond our realm so he strives to find it everywhere, this time through low frequencies of sound and our company in a cabin in the woods. he believes he can raise a curtain of this world and find something else, maybe he can even draw ghosts nearby and communicate with them.  So during this unfamiliar experience Arvo starts to lose his mind, seeing things

that's what I'm talking about

and there is an option panel, but i have only one choice

so i wondered whether there is another one that i don't know how to create

Okay, what is this? Are you... making fun of me? There isn't a Klaus route, just one event. To pick a route you pick a character at the end of day 1 and he isn't a choice. You simply don't see him outside of breakfast and his one event on day 1.

To my knowledge, there's never an option to follow him again in any of the actual routes, though I can vaguely remember him going into the woods again being mentioned in passing in someone else's route.

Also the screenshot you've shown is missing half the buttons at the bottom. What is this? Some ancient Halloween version?

°.• that's my normal list of buttons, i play on an Android phone

no, i didn't try to make fun of you, rather i was sure everyone tried that

and no, i have last version installed, so it would be weird to have a Halloween event in it

spoiler

try to choose following Klaus in the afternoon of the first day and then choose Bjorn to stay with, the cat will appear and you can follow him

Ah, I didn't know what android version looks like, playing on PC.

Either way, I can't follow him! He just disappears into the woods too fast. I tried it both with Arvo head over heels into Bjorn and while being dismissive of Bjorn, in case that changes anything. How the hell are you getting this second Klaus event? 0_o

so did you follow Klaus before in the same playthrough?

(1 edit)

Okay, I'm retrying this right now and I guess I have never before tried to talk to him during his first event on my Bjorn playthroughs *facepalm*. This seems to be the trigger that allows you to chase after him after supper.  It seemed so pointless after the first time I did it - he runs away after like two lines anyway, how was I supposed to know it changes anything?

Sorry I was suspicious of you.

I really need to spend some time and figure out how to properly butcher renpy games to check for routes without having to go through 358 possible combinations of decisions.

I'll play through the event and get back to you.

cool! im glad for you

but yeah, I didn't get a chance to run after him at first too so i decided to try it out with going after him in the afternoon before

also I'm not sure you can do that routing for devon, but i didn't explore this piece much

btw are you also hyperfixed on this game rn?) being always active on forum for a whole month and all

(1 edit)

Ah, yes, you could say I'm fixated on it - it's currently giving me inspiration for my own projects, plus there seems to be still enough content for me to explore. Like a whole freaking route I didn't even know existed! It even has its own little loading animation, damn! It's so weird to see a new loading screen after having played this for a whole month, and it's not even new content.

So yeah, I checked out both Bjorn and Devon approaches to Klaus's route. Doesn't really change much whichever you choose, but it was nice to see that Devon would look if you disappeared - made me feel better about Arvo following Klaus into a lonely shack in the middle of nowhere. Either way, was nice to get a proper glimpse at Arvo being a massive penis to Mikko with his friends.

Also, I have an answer to your initial question.

I decided to be smart about it - I figured out how to butcher the game and looked into the script. No, there's no way to activate any other actions in that scene. "Run away" is literally the only option coded into the game. Maybe something else is planned, maybe it's just to give you an illusion of taking action - who knows.

Thanks for showing me this route, would have taken me some time before I'd have found it on my own and it wouldn't be any time soon.

wow, running away being the only option sure makes you ask yourself why

uwuu Devon is the best, i love this man (if only he had his own unique arts, because art of him being in a sauna cringes me moderately)

about Arvo being a dick, you mean him obsessing over Klaus literally the whole day and not paying any attention to his new friends? or are you talking just about dialogue option for Mikko? yeah, that was quite unnerving

(1 edit)

I mean the flashback you get after the ritual, Arvo telling his friends to not talk with Mikko without explaining why. You can learn about it from Mikko's route too, but in Klaus's route you can actually re-live that exact moment.

It's sad how little it took for them to abandon Mikko - just "believe me, okay?" was enough. No shit Mikko hightailed out of there and applied to a boarding school.

I wonder what this ritual moment even is - is it metaphorical? Is magic canon? Did Klaus put something into the dish he helped Dan cook? He said with a grin that he cut the tomatoes for it and I've seen people refer to home-made drugs as tomatoes(since tomatoes are the most popular thing to home-grow). No one else was affected, but it could be the bean lottery - Klaus could very well be aware of that tradition, and with his fascination with fate... Yeah, he probably drugged Arvo.

p.s. I too am not amused with some of the special artworks for this VN. I'd rather prefer if all artwork was done by HQ - their works really look like windows into the world of Dawn Chorus and not just fancy paintings. The simple picture of Arvo looking at himself in the mirror has more weight than any other art in a different visual style, IMO.
