Here is a little insight of what my process was:

First of all this is my second attempt at using the leitmotif for the jam, my first attempt was more of a EDM type of song that I didn’t like that much, then when I thought of Komorebi so I tried with that and I liked it a lot more.

Most of the instruments didn’t have a lot of thought behind them, I just added what “felt right” in the context of the song.

An example of what fell right are the pianos, I didn’t know what to put, but I knew I wanted some chords to transition into the final part of the song and since I know that this specific piano goes well with triangle waves, so I did that.

The little koto sections where originally guitars (there was actually a version with me playing that part in guitar), but because of the japanese theme I decided to switch to a koto which in my opinion sounds better anyways. (I am very proud of the ending of this song)

The flute is kind of the same story as a koto, originally it was a sine wave before turning into a flute to fit the theme.

I liked adding the little 8-bit chirp noises, they are supposed to be little birds in a way. (You know because of trees and nature).

Also while making the song I had a very specific shade of green in my head for some reason, I guess it is because I draw a lot.

I like the drums, it makes the song a little more upbeat which is what I was going for, something you would listen to relieve stress or something and I think it works (I have turned it now into my drawing BG music), but I understand if they seem out of place. (Yes they are indeed rock inspired)

I like combining wierd instruments, especially chiptune instruments with literally anything else.

I hope you liked it and I’m excited to listen to all the other songs when I get the time to do it. (‾◡◝)
