Is there anything in the folder ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (use Command+Shift+G in Finder to enter this file path)?

As far as I can tell, the error you're getting is produced by when the installer tries to relaunch macOS's registration app for Audio Units. The installer only tries to do this *after* it has installed the plugins, so if you restart your computer then your DAW should be able to detect them? Otherwise I'm not sure what's happening.

Hi there,

You nailed it! I was checking only in //Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, and not in ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. Sure enough, there they were, all three. It might be worth noting that those are the only three .component files in the folder, though I have over 100 plugins installed. Everyone else's installer puts their plugins in the root-level Library path just mentioned (414 files there, between .component and support files). Ableton's default location for plugins is //Library/Audio/Plugins, so this explains why Live never found them doing the startup scan. Doesn't explain why I didn't think to look there myself. Incidentally, I had a couple of stuck-on notes with Fluctus. There's no "all notes off" button (a.k.a. the "panic button") in the GUI, is there?  Killed them by shutting off the device in the Live channel that wraps the plugin, a fairly easy move. Having lots of fun with this trio at the moment. Thanks for sharing these unique synths with the community!!

Thank you, glad they are working now!
