Was a quick play, intuitive controls - 7/10

Aside from some of the cons I will list further in, once I got the hang of it, it was really fun and I did feel like I was taking over the area, fitting really well with the theme of the game jam. That being said, here are my pros and cons.

Pros

  • Game had really intuitive controls, though a little clunky it was easy to figure out how to move/place characters/attack.
  • The artwork is really nice, and does make me feel a bit immersed.
  • The sounds, although a bit loud, did work well with the situations.
  • I liked the animations a lot and thought they were perfect for this.

Cons

  • The sound was way too loud! The volume slider only affected the music, and should maybe start at 50%, and the sound effects are way too loud and the slider does not effect them at all. I did have to turn my volume down in windows.
  • The controls, although intuitive, did feel a little clunky, and I did get confused with right and left clicking, especially during buying out of the shop.
  • I am not sure how the mycelium(?) spreads on the ground and I am not sure how to make it spread faster or further.
  • There is a limit for how many characters you can have, but it does not let you know how big the limit is or how close you are to it, maybe a simple character #/# would work for that.

Overall, it was a pretty good play, and designed well, and had good gameplay once I got used to the controls and mechanics.

Yeah. not showing some information is def a short coming of the UI and explaining how the game works. Spreading is automatic you just want to keep defeating the pitchfork guys to prevent them from taken your territory. We wanted to have guys standing at the border increase the takeover rate but that didn't make it in on time. The limit I imposed as a sort of last minute thing. I didn't want it to become tedium having to command too many units and I knew once you hit 10 anyways theres no way you were losing xD. Thanks a bunch for all the feedback!
