  • Overall solid game with an interesting spreading idea that could be expanded on further to make it even more unique. Would love to see different terrain tiles that get affected in unique ways by the spread. Keep it up!

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Description has a good amount of info. Might be tuned a little difficult rn but I was able to find some wins. Turn based strategy game. Click on the tentacle to build. place units on green boxes after selecting a unit. left click unit to move. Red box means that unit is in range to attack.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?

Fun game cool music kind of comical to play i like it. :)

Artwork is solid. Soundscape caused me to have to mute the game as it was to loud. The concept it self is solid.

Was a quick play, intuitive controls - 7/10

Aside from some of the cons I will list further in, once I got the hang of it, it was really fun and I did feel like I was taking over the area, fitting really well with the theme of the game jam. That being said, here are my pros and cons.

Pros

  • Game had really intuitive controls, though a little clunky it was easy to figure out how to move/place characters/attack.
  • The artwork is really nice, and does make me feel a bit immersed.
  • The sounds, although a bit loud, did work well with the situations.
  • I liked the animations a lot and thought they were perfect for this.

Cons

  • The sound was way too loud! The volume slider only affected the music, and should maybe start at 50%, and the sound effects are way too loud and the slider does not effect them at all. I did have to turn my volume down in windows.
  • The controls, although intuitive, did feel a little clunky, and I did get confused with right and left clicking, especially during buying out of the shop.
  • I am not sure how the mycelium(?) spreads on the ground and I am not sure how to make it spread faster or further.
  • There is a limit for how many characters you can have, but it does not let you know how big the limit is or how close you are to it, maybe a simple character #/# would work for that.

Overall, it was a pretty good play, and designed well, and had good gameplay once I got used to the controls and mechanics.

Yeah. not showing some information is def a short coming of the UI and explaining how the game works. Spreading is automatic you just want to keep defeating the pitchfork guys to prevent them from taken your territory. We wanted to have guys standing at the border increase the takeover rate but that didn't make it in on time. The limit I imposed as a sort of last minute thing. I didn't want it to become tedium having to command too many units and I knew once you hit 10 anyways theres no way you were losing xD. Thanks a bunch for all the feedback!

you guys should definitely implement the sound effects into the music slider, new to these types of games so it took a bit for me to understand what was going on and how to play, but i got it figured out in the end!

edit: the artwork is sooo cute! reason why i gave this game a shot its very eye catching!

Yeah. I thought it might be too loud but I thought it would be easier for people to quiet the game down then turn their sound up and have to modify every application that makes sound to be quieter so they don't blow their ears up. Definitely having more options is a plus like a SFX slider but ran out of time. Thanks a bunch for the kind words!

Music slaps! I spawned a lot of units and swarmed the other base!

Got a win on my first try, felt really good! Would have loved if I could have seen the enemies movement range + attack range so I could plan my turns more strategically.
Good job!

Thanks. Thats encouraging to hear. That's definitely a needed feature. We also wanted tallgrass to give a chance to miss so you could hide and ambush using them. Or having your mushrooms stay at your border to bolster the spread of your territory. Both of which didn't make it in xD or the fact that the dmg text is black and readable "most" of the time. Yeah. We reached about 90% of our goals tho. I definitely feel good where we landed. I've already heard lots of nice things. I will say the opposing units are nearly identical in purpose but a tiny bit weaker in almost every way. The artillery guy same movement, less HP, 1 less range for example.

A fun little game, loved the music.  Two thumbs up!
