Suggestion: a way to bring defeat too the player encouraging more precise movements is doing the same thing Super Mario 64 did when you lose all health, Kick you out of the level, however, the meter for that should be your carried candy, each time you get hit you lose from 1-5 pieces of candy, and there will be no i-frames, but you should be able to retain some control while being kicked around by bees and what-not.
