Haven't done this since it will break immersion a bit – there would be no way to make sure that a character on her image and on the action images would even have the same hair color, not talking about them looking the same. There are from 35 to 100 different images for each race

you could list the images of similar looking characters (hair color and physiology) and cross-reference the actions using a csv file

Of course it is technically possible, though would need much more work and exceed a one-week period of development :)

the game isnt really all that immersive to begin with so not much is being lost if the goblin is slightly off model since as long as it looks similar people wont care
