I really enjoyed playing this! I'm not really sure on the purpose of the guardian angel. I didn't try it, but it felt like he wasn't actually needed. I also didn't do anything with the picture, but I completed the game, so I'm not sure what that was about. If the angel could interact with objects, rather than removing darkness, then that would bring a whole new level to the puzzles.

Super neat concept, odd house layout, loved it. Brought me back to the games I used to play on Newsgrounds. Nice work!

So glad you liked it! The angel is needed to teach the child how to fix/where to put each item (the “investigate” option only shows for the angel and is needed for the child to collect or fix it). The picture is just there for some extra lore and to make the inventory slots a little more valuable since you only get 2. But since there’s only really 3 things you can collect I can see why it feels a bit random - maybe with even more non-essential items it would make the puzzles and winning a bit more challenging. Thanks for playing and for the feedback! :)
