Hey, the Itch version of the game won't work for me so i was consideing buying the steam version. Do i need another $20 or can i get a refund on the Itch version?
Hiya! Itch has a policy of only refunding if there's a technical issue that customer support can't help to fix (we don't have an option to give refunds ourselves), so let's try that first. Most players who can't get the Itch version to run by downloading manually have found that downloading and installing it through the Itch launcher app worked (because it fixes some file permission issues), so maybe you can try that first: https://itch.io/app
I swear it had an error message before but now whenever it opens it says something else. If it helps I tried reading the READ ME file but my smooth brain didn’t really understand what it meant
Edit: probably important to mention, I’m running this on Steam OS, since that’s my only (good) computer. I am using the Linux version but I’m not sure if Steam OS would be messing it up.
I heard with our resident Steam OS user, who said the Itch version works for him, and that it should for you too if you:
- Install Windows version of D2 through itch, preferably launcher
- Add Game.exe to steam with right click
- In steam in gaming mode, open the game properties for Game.exe and under compatibility force use of Proton, any recent version should work
- Run the game through Steam
Hope this helps!
If you bought the game using this account, then you should be able to find the download link both on the store page and in your game library here. By logging into your account in the Itch launcher app you should be able to download the game through the app as well. If you bought the game without an Itch account, then you still used an email address and was sent a download link you can still access, and have it resent if you lost the email (https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought)
Either way you don't need to buy the game again :)
