Make sure that you have shift bound to something in your options and stuff. Can't assume it's a bug unless we got more evidence.

Could there be a conflict with the fact I have shift used as my crouch key?

It could be. Make sure that your crouch isn't taken up by two buttons. Generally, make sure nothing is repeating.

i just tried to see if its a bind conflict issue and its not as i reset my crouch back to crtl and it did nothing to fix the problem

Did you also make sure nothing else is using Shift?

yes the only thing i could change in the keybinds that used shift was crouch and like i said i reverted it back to ctrl and that still didnt fix the issue so its not a keybinds problem

Just making sure. Well, if it's not a conflict issue, it may very well be a bug, but I have yet to have this happen to me. Either way, you can report it in the 0.7.0 bug report thread that is pinned, and either somebody else can help you, or the dev can take a look at it. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
