Well, he did say in the latest update that he'd have to redo the project from the ground up with another engine.
It doesn't look to me like there's a whole lot of game, so if they wanted to, they could do that, and it would be a lot better to do now.Maybe Godot, Maybe RPG Maker, Maybe something else. Start with the game you want to make and work backwards from there.
