Keep getting the bad ending, even though I feel like I have been making nothing but good choices... But maybe I am just not experienced enough with visual novels....

Always remember to spend time with your preferred villager. So if you choose let's say, Leo, be sure to hang out with him on days he is available. Some routes will be locked IF you don't choose the proper responses.
A tip:
You should be able to hang out with your preferred villager at least 3 times from days 4-7. Any less than that will guarantee you a bad ending.
