I tried to play for a bit, neither version locks the mouse in so I was constantly clicking stuff on my second monitor which was frustrating. But I had to stop due to motion sickness, something I normally donā€™t suffer from. Trying to figure out why that was the case here - tested again after typing those sentences and the mouse actually was getting locked to the window? So I have no idea why I was having that trouble before. Maybe alt-tabbing out once breaks it?

I first assumed it was a low FOV that caused the motion sickness, and Iā€™m not sure that isnā€™t still a factor. Whatā€™s it set at? Thereā€™s something weird scaling wise around the edges on a 21:9 monitor that causes a really weird fisheye lens effect.

The same shots at 21:9 vs 16:9 resolution, showing just the edges get stretched out:

And in motion to show the issues:

I think there are still problems in 16:9 with FOV, the sudden jerkiness of the camera as you change elevation levels, the instant zooming, etc.. It was all a recipe for bad motion sickness. Obviously some of the waving around I did in the video is out of normal gameplay, but the start of the 21:9 footage is just normal looking around and moving forward.

With FOV options, no weird resolution fisheye lens stuff, the ability to adjust mouse aim, etc. I could see this being a fun game potentially!

Hey! Sorry to hear you had problems. The FOV is reasonably high - 85 deg vertical. I think it's the lens distortion effect that's giving you the most trouble. The default Unity shader for that is rather bad and I've always had trouble adjusting it to not screw with screen edges, but I didn't expect it to cause motion sickness. That's the unfortunate part of doing VR dev daily - you have no idea what causes motion sickness anymore, because you're so immune to it.

The video is private, so I wasn't able to have a look.

Thank you for giving it a try :).

oops, switched it to unlisted instead if you wanna check it out. 85 deg vert makes me think maybe itā€™s actually too high an FOV, been a hot minute since Iā€™ve played a 3d game or messed with the sliders! Whatā€™s that saying about testers being usually good at diagnosing problems and terrible at suggesting solutions? lol
