Cool concept. The tanks are hovering now! Run for your life! :)

Unfortunately had a hard time turning, especially while the tank was moving. Maybe you were already planning this, but it would be neat if the hovertank could glide up the steep slopes.

GREAT GAME !

I had to stop my self from playin it again and again

The graphics , Sound and fun were all great , 5 stars for me

Cool explosions :-)!

GAMEPLAY
The game was enjoyable once I got used to the controls, allowing for fast movement and engaging shooting action. The aiming could be a bit smoother maybe (sometimes took some time to aim correctly), which might enhance the gameplay experience further. Windows performance was good. The web version was what laggy so I just switched to the download. Even more weapons types would be great of course in a possible update and more enemies and different landscapes.. :-)

ART STYLE / VISUALS
The landscape in the game was nice, and the perspective from the tank provided a satisfactory view for me when hovering and shooting.

AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The audio enhanced the immersive experience of the shooter game.

INNOVATION
The game didn't introduce significant innovations but was a solid execution of this genre.

THEME
The theme was acknowledged but only lightly incorporated into the gameplay through story, which was sufficient for a light touch.

Overall a well done fun tank shooter game. Enjoyed playing. Keep up this good work đź’Ş

I don't know if I was bad at the game, was it the bad controls or the game was hard! It was fun and reminded me of old Atari tank games :)

I tried to play for a bit, neither version locks the mouse in so I was constantly clicking stuff on my second monitor which was frustrating. But I had to stop due to motion sickness, something I normally don’t suffer from. Trying to figure out why that was the case here - tested again after typing those sentences and the mouse actually was getting locked to the window? So I have no idea why I was having that trouble before. Maybe alt-tabbing out once breaks it?

I first assumed it was a low FOV that caused the motion sickness, and I’m not sure that isn’t still a factor. What’s it set at? There’s something weird scaling wise around the edges on a 21:9 monitor that causes a really weird fisheye lens effect.

The same shots at 21:9 vs 16:9 resolution, showing just the edges get stretched out:

And in motion to show the issues:

https://youtu.be/BM_cdB8r1W0

I think there are still problems in 16:9 with FOV, the sudden jerkiness of the camera as you change elevation levels, the instant zooming, etc.. It was all a recipe for bad motion sickness. Obviously some of the waving around I did in the video is out of normal gameplay, but the start of the 21:9 footage is just normal looking around and moving forward.

With FOV options, no weird resolution fisheye lens stuff, the ability to adjust mouse aim, etc. I could see this being a fun game potentially!

Developer

Hey! Sorry to hear you had problems. The FOV is reasonably high - 85 deg vertical. I think it's the lens distortion effect that's giving you the most trouble. The default Unity shader for that is rather bad and I've always had trouble adjusting it to not screw with screen edges, but I didn't expect it to cause motion sickness. That's the unfortunate part of doing VR dev daily - you have no idea what causes motion sickness anymore, because you're so immune to it.

The video is private, so I wasn't able to have a look.

Thank you for giving it a try :).

Submitted

oops, switched it to unlisted instead if you wanna check it out. 85 deg vert makes me think maybe it’s actually too high an FOV, been a hot minute since I’ve played a 3d game or messed with the sliders! What’s that saying about testers being usually good at diagnosing problems and terrible at suggesting solutions? lol

I really liked the terrain and the movement, felt so comfortable and cool. For me it was a bit laggy, although i am very bad at this games i enjoyed!

Very fun game!

Shooting from afar is so satisfying. I also really liked the graphics and the sound effects, especially when getting hit. I also liked the detail of enemies destroyed far away making a different explosion sound.

As for improvement opportunities, I think the HUD could use a health bar, or some other graphic that better displays remaining health. Most of the time I didn't notice when I was about to lose during combat, so I wouldn't retreat and try to heal. You could even make the graphic shake and/or flash red whenever the player gets hit to add to the immersion.

Anyway, nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The UI is definitely not where I wanted it to be, got the weapon and health indicators something like an hour before deadline.

Mine is a 2d game but I also like 3d visuals so I had a try to this game.

Seriously it was heart touching but the one thing you can do is to make the aim while moving more smoother that can make it a Masterpiece.

Played and rated!

The concept was pretty fun actually, but I found it too difficult especially because of the first person view and the way it's hard to aim due to movement :/ I think I could enjoy this a lot in 3rd person or if the view stays stable to aim. Also the main firing weapon I think should be a hitscan instead of projectile otherwise it's again pretty hard to aim.

Liked the hovering and controls of the tank, it was pretty interesting :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well:

Flying tanks?? Game of the year!

Submitted

pretty fun game, enjoyed switching between the weapons to optimize damage like in the modern doom games, tank was a little difficult to control and got a little lost in the map near the end but otherwise pretty sick game!

Developer

Thanks for playing and the kind words :). Where did you get lost, was it the little path to the canyon?

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed speeding around the map and destroying other tanks, nice game!

Submitted

That was pretty fun! It did feel too fast for a tank (even hover ones) and I got a bit lost on the large map.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I did make the tank faster than planned, just so you could traverse the map faster when trying to find your way.

The game is cool, but the controller is inconvenient in places

Preface

The rating is based on my personal preferences alone. Generally, I'm pretty open to new experiences, but I prefer games where lots of things happen. I tend to be a harsh critic.

I have finished the game.

Gameplay/Fun

There is nothing to complain about. The gameplay is hectic and fun and the different gun options allow different playstyles. I personally like the auto gun.

Art Style/Visuals

They're awesome. They remind me of a game from the early 2000s. The only thing I could complain about is the weird lighting.

Audio/Sound

There is nothing to complain about. The spatial sound design really makes you feel like you're in the battlefield.

Innovation

The concept is quite original. It's like the Halo warthog had a game of its own!

Theme

The main character is a tank commander cut off from his forces. It fits well.

Verdict: Awesome game!

RATING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the detailed review! What would you say was weird about the lighting (did you play with low detail, maybe?)?

Submitted

Amazing game! The visuals look very good and I love how open the map feels. It's so much fun sniping at tanks from hundreds of metres away!

Developer

Glad to hear it, thanks for playing!

Love the terrain with the high mountains peak, the controls really make it feel like a tank and the way the camera moves up and down with the uneven ground helps on that feeling. I played it slowly in the end but at first I though it was fast paced and just kept diying lol. Nice visuals with the smoke particles and the sfx are on point.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! My initial idea was to make the gameplay fast, but the target prediction algorithm I wrote was way too effective no matter how much noise I introduce into it :P.  So I just scattered more repair points around :D.

This game was SUPER fun, and the visuals were very neat (the explosion effects were awesome). I don't think it hit the theme, but it was very fun so who cares.

Developer(+1)

Happy to hear you had a good time, mission accomplished :).

There was a bunch of voiced dialogue that emphasized the isolation part, but didn't make it in before the deadline.

Submitted

love car/tank controls!, haha this was fun, didnt feel the isolation vibe but ig it fits the theme but this was fun, good job!
