Thanks! Agreed the blocks can be frustrating, I think I have a solution for that at least. I’ve learned to try to tune game jam games to be fun and easy, as a standalone work I’d definitely make dying more punishing. I also always overscope on polish and art and then don’t have much time for the actual game at the end, so I also figure it’s better to err on the side of too easy without time to properly playtest the levels (which a platformer maybe more than any other genre really benefits from).
