The game demo is live! Thank you for your patience. Hope you find it enjoyable. Let me know what you think, feedback is super helpful for continuing to refine my game development process. :)

Hi Sufferer. Thanks for reaching out. I have been distracted pursuing playing lead guitar in a punk band for the last few years but I would actually love to jump back into this and release the demo. I've actually dusted off the old game dev skills earlier this year so I'll work on getting the demo up here asap. How does July 1st sound?

Well done! 2d horror games are difficult to pull off but your environment, visual and audio design all create a unnerving experience. I'm especially impressed with your use of different lighting conditions and foreground images to create a complex visual atmosphere.

Hi SnootySnootGames. Thanks for trying out our game. Indeed, there is some difficulty when switching camera angles. I think if we can fine tune it a bit more and get it just right it will feel more balanced while remaining challenging. We drew inspiration from original psone horror games which tended to have a additional layer of challenge caused by fixed camera angles.

The monsters run through the walls as we did not have time to train the AI to path around walls. We will be focusing on that for the Halloween update, though.

Thank you for the feedback! :)

Hey Levont! Thanks so much for playing our game. I really enjoyed watching your video. Also, thank you for the feedback, we will use it to improve the game.

Planning an update for Halloween time this year. It will include the rest of the town outside the house and expanded gameplay.

I think we all love a good GameBoy style game. The graphics are well crafted. I was pleasantly surprised that the simple mechanics were supplemented with some additional mini-game mechanics here and there which really rounded out the gameplay experience.

My favorite part, hands-down, was the writing. This is really well written. Quirky humor, it has character. That's hard to do, great job!

I have to commend you for your creative use of the computer filesystem and reloading the game. I like that the game closes itself in your face at certain points, and then as you progress it starts reopening for you because at that point you're engaged.

The art style is consistent, cute and well executed. Everything works together to create a unique gameplay experience. Excellent!

Thanks so much for playing and thank for you making the video, I really enjoyed watching it!

Wow. This is an impressively deep computer system you've programmed. The attention to detail is impeccable. The lessons are a bit dry, but then again, so was any documentation on programming back in the day.

I see there's some other more visual elements deeper in the game that I didn't get to. I only played the demo.

I'm gonna level with you. As a professional programmer, this stumped me. Mostly because I don't work with low level stuff like this. The logic is straightforward but the input and output data structure with binary that I'm attempting to solve for eludes me.

This is an incredible opportunity to teach programming through a game, that's kind of what I thought it was when I first opened it. While it can teach programming, my one criticism is it's not very accessible. i.e. I can chuckle about it because I already have years of experience programming, but if you were to hand this to someone who doesn't, they would likely not be able to figure out that the lessons are just informational and that they need to scroll down to the task and write the correct code to create the output they see on the right.

Basically what I'm saying is this is definitely a programmer game for programmers, and that's probably your only intention with it. It would have been cool if it was a programmer game for everyone though. That's just my opinion.

Overall, excellent game, very well executed.

The dialogue and concept is kind of cringe in general. The visual novel style game works in terms of controls and the assets are well picked and placed for the most part. It's just not my cup of tea.

My assumption was you were trying to sure up your visual novel prototype with whatever but then I read in a comment on the game page that you used a game engine so I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish. I guess it was just for the lulz.

I added controls to the game page description. (Which I had forgotten to add in my tired stupor when I finished packaging the final build and posting last night.)

Hey JK, Thanks for checking it out! Glad you like the music and visual art and found sledding fun.

Thanks for playing and for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the experience. :)

Thanks! :)

A great puzzle game that sticks to one or two base mechanics and uses them in incredible ways to create deep and satisfying challenges.

Thank you, Rabbit Run Games.

I'm following HPS1 on itchio, and I'll join the server if I can locate the link. Cheers!

Hi guys. I just came across this game jam a couple of weeks too late. I'd love to participate in the next one. Is there a currently scheduled follow-up?

Thanks,

Aim

Hey Prismatic. Thank you for playing our game and thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you taking the time.

Glad you like the premise! :) I've just updated the game with some bug fixes for collision.

Thanks for checking it out!

Yeah, sorry about that. I would have liked to add more visual and audio indicators when you take control of enemies and hit switches/open doors but we ran out of time.

Hi ranshaa! Thank you for checking out our game. Use Q to mind control the npc outside the door and walk over with him and hit E to open the door. Doors can be opened by E, and if you can't open a door yourself it means there's an NPC nearby you need to take control of by playing your Ukulele.
