Hi there, and I'm really sorry for the super-delayed response! Your project looks amazing, thank you so much for sharing, it made the team and I really happy to see that our project could inspire and be educational in that way! :)
Unfortunately, we are not able to release any production documentation directly at this time, but do stay tuned for some "making of" or "behind the scenes" posts and exhibitions that may be coming in the future!
Hey ReneeFDEM,
It looks like you forgot to send a link to the clip. From what you are describing though it definitely sounds like a weird bug we were not previously aware of. Really sorry you ran into this. We'll make sure to look into the issue and hopefully fix it in a future update. If you can send us a link to the clip you've made it would help us out a lot!
Hey there! Glad you're enjoying the game so far. In regards to the trouble you've been having:
- Currently the graveyard key looks identical to the house key. However, upon opening your inventory and clicking on the key in the bag it should enter into the inspect mode and you should see text on the screen that says "Graveyard Key" and a corresponding description. If this isn't the case, and somehow it says you still have the "House Key" upon inspecting please let us know. We definitely agree that it's confusing right now though, so don't worry - we'll be replacing the graveyard key model in a future update with a different one to make sure it's clear to players that it's a different key.
- In regards to the objective, it's actually referring to a puzzle within the graveyard which is your next step. So if you walk up to the gate in front of the graveyard you should be able to use the graveyard key to open the gate and then find a puzzle within the graveyard that you have to solve in order to continue. Once again, we'll be fixing the confusing objectives here by adding an "Enter The Graveyard" objective prior to the one that asks you to solve the puzzle. Sorry about the confusion, but rest assured that these issues will be fixed soon, most likely in our next update.
Hope that helps, and don't hesitate to let us know if there are any other issues you run into. :^)
Hey there. Sorry you ran into this bug with the settings menu. Our team is aware of this issue, and we're currently working on a fix.
In the meantime, if you'd like to play this version, you can get around this problem for now by following these instructions in order to reset the saved settings back to the defaults in order to make your game playable again:
- Go to your Start/Windows Search Bar and type in "registry" and an application should pop up called the "Registry Editor". Click on that to open the application.
- It will ask for your permission to run the application - click "Yes".
- When it's open, it should look something like this:
As you can see from this screenshot, you should have a folder (somewhere within the big list of folders on your left) that's labeled "ImpastoTeam" and within that a folder named "Impasto". Go ahead and delete the "Impasto" folder by right-clicking on it and selecting "delete" and all of your saved settings for the game will be reset to default, allowing you to run the game properly again. Just make sure not to mess around with the in-game settings menu too much after that or you may end up back where you started and have to do this all over again (until we can patch this issue for good).
Hey there - no worries at all! Thanks for letting us know.
We are actually aware of this issue: the problem is that the text box is actually correct, but the voice acting is wrong. So we need to have the voice actress re-record that line in order to fix it, which takes some time to schedule, record, edit, and then implement in-game. It's definitely on our list though!
If you find any other issues, please do let us know as it helps us a lot and we really appreciate it!

hi everyone! my new game released a few days ago and i meant to post about it then but the holidays got in the way so i'm posting it now instead! it's made in Bitsy, and uses a whole bunch of new hacks i've implemented that i don't think i've ever seen used before in any Bitsy games till now. it's also about some pretty heavy stuff, and gets pretty dark at times, but there is a happy ending and you can avoid all the real intense stuff and just go almost straight to the happy ending if you want to! there's more information about how to do so on the itch page at the end of the "WARNING" section.
here's the description of the game from the page:
discomfort zone is a 2D pixel-art narrative game about depression, anxiety disorder, despair, and recovery. The game takes a realistic, un-filtered, and at times uncomfortably personal look at depression and anxiety disorder through the eyes of someone dealing with these conditions, promoting understanding and sharing the experience with a wider audience. The game deals with many themes related to depression and anxiety: worry, loneliness, and self-deprecating thoughts, but also hope and finding the strength, when all seems lost, to keep going. Made in a heavily-hacked version of the Bitsy engine, the game uses a simple art style, limited color palette, and basic controls to ensure accessibility.
anyways, think that's everything for this post so thanks for reading, and there's some screenshots below if you want to get a sense of some of the art & visuals in the game.
thanks!

hi yepsi,
i'm sorry the ending felt off to you, that was one of my worries about the whole input bit in regards to the ending. i hope that the good thoughts leading up to the ending helped with that at least a little bit. i don't think you should feel bad about yourself for not being able to come up with more things though, i know how hard it can be to think of good thoughts sometimes, took me forever to come up with ones i put in the game. just had to really sit down and think about it for quite a while. sounds like what you did put are great things to be happy about though, even if you may feel like you "still only have those things". i don't think that feeling that way is in itself necessarily a bad thing, you gotta cling to what you have that makes you happy real hard and never let go. i think that if you gave it another go another day and thought for long enough you could come up with a third thing though. just gotta take tiny steps forward like that. thanks so much for playing, and for sharing your thoughts on the game. always keep fighting... hope is one hell of a weapon.
hi! thanks for playing and making a video, however it seems like you encountered a bug halfway through your playthrough that caused the end of the game to function incorrectly. i believe it's a browser issue related to Firefox and am working on a fix as soon as possible. sorry about that!
EDIT: THIS ISSUE HAS SINCE BEEN RESOLVED.
