OK So I just made a builtin level loader. It takes an image like this and makes it playable. Go crazy with it :)

Oh, and if you want to draw some more sacks/bags for the customization part, I'm down to throw those in too. 100x100

It's literally MS Paint, and I'm not even kidding.

The game, Sack Run

Edit: It now has a builtin level loader, draw your stuff in MS Paint and you can already play it. See example level below.

Post the levels you make, and if they look fun I'll include them!

Guidelines

I'd recommend starting with a 2400x1200 or so image. The sack is 100x100, for scale.

Draw some platforms or walls, some parts that can kill you (optional), and a goal.

Export each of those 3 things in a separate image with a transparent background. Or don't, whatever. If you just draw a level and put it in the comments, I can do the rest.

Colors

These are what I used for each part. Technically you could use any color for any part of the terrain, but if it's not readable or consistent with the rest of the game I'm a lot less likely to include it.

Edit: The level editor detects the platform types based off these colors, so use them.

  1. green ground #2a791e
  2. red bad #ff0000
  3. yellow good #ffe600
  4. starting spot #79471e

Mods: Could I credit everyone that makes a level as part of my team? Is this even allowed? I made the game by myself, but making levels is too easy to not include literally everyone on.

I'm just glad the theme wasn't going slow, or being on fire or something

I made Sack Run in 6 hours and it ended up being pretty dang good, I think it deserves some bonus points for that. at least an award of sorts

(/satire btw)

dinasour skip is too hard, this dev sucks :(

Cool idea! Just 1 implementation nit: Changing direction on keypress instead of on update means that you can mash 2 direction keys to travel diagonally very fast.

Awesome one :D

you might already know about this, but standing on the carrot doesn't refresh/remove your jump status. so placing carrot down, using your (double) jump, and removing/replacing it in the air lets you fly, if you touch the ground and restart afterwards to refresh jump.

giving the mirror jam and placing a tower while he's eating makes towers on my side but not his, which can set up a free win with expensive towers (since he can't destroy them). Also you don't take any damage from enemies going through.

Also I really want the map to be perfectly mirrored, but the entry/exit isn't. Very cool concept though!

Very fun game! Checkpoint system doesn't quite work, as the optimal strat is to just carry it to the end from start. Could be more fun if dying with a checkpoint brought it back to the other checkopint.
