I really enjoyed this, I do wish it was longer because everything just seemed so fitting. The art, characters, personalities, choices, all of them seemed to just click together. Like the other comments I have seen, I am biased towards Ray. It can be a terrible thing to feel the way he does at any point in your life and I am sure many of us have had that low point. However, I do feel like because of the length of this particular vn, it was harder for me to kind of immerse myself into the experience. Spoilers incoming!
It was hard to see Ray "falling at first sight" for our self insert MCs. The story does say he has been following us for (3 years) but we only see him and the other characters for so long. It didn't really feel like I had much time to get to know him. I find it hard to care for him and his character, but I do care for him more than the others because he had so much more screentime. I would love to see if in the future a sequel to this one with all three characters making a return. It would be really exciting to see how each after story would branch off into another game. (ex. Double coming after MC while staying with Ray or vice versa) Although if I am being honest about one of his endings I was extremely confused on the ending that is supposed to give a message about a "greater purpose." I'm not exactly sure what he did other than possibly absorbing MC like the others that came before, the dialogue kind of lost me although I did understand the terms and what not. Regardless, I could type pages and pages of my thoughts but overall I loved this, and I'm sad to see it end so soon! I can't help but be a bit greedy and want more from this. Especially because how everything felt so real in this hypothetical setting. I don't know about the others but I really look for and almost crave in some cases realism or
Verisimilitude.
Thank you for the experience that I had playing! Hope that this isn't the last of it! I look forward to more.
This had so much potential and could of been extremely popular compared to other vns. I think there was a good balance between plot and relationship/character development that many other visual novels lack. Not to mention the voice acting??? Hopefully my imagination can fill in the blanks but thats a lot of blanks to fill.
You couldn't have worded it any better. I completely agree! I genuinely feel like a lot of visual novels in the romance genre are nowadays too focused on making their individual plots unique and interactive, which ends up lacking the actual relationship/build up between the routes. This leads to it mostly feeling shallow and not giving me enough time to care about the characters.
When I first played I was bawling just because it gave validation that not a lot of people gave to me at my many dark points in life. Everyone supported me no matter what decision I wanted to make. Both friends and family both constantly communicated their own feelings and thoughts to avoid misunderstandings. There were a lot of times where they made a lot of effort to stay in touch like our favorite (and only I think) cousin!
I'm sad that it ended too, but I always end up playing again just because of how much I enjoy myself. I swear the first time I played Our Life it felt like I had so much content to explore, now on my many attempts later I feel like I go through it so fast! I'm always happy to "come back" and start a new life :)
To stop myself from continuing to ramble I'm happy you were able to experience it the same way I did.
Thank you GBPatch!!!
It was worth my money, time, and tears. Definitely play it! Prepare yourself for the emotional rollercoaster it provides. I can't express how happy I was playing and reaching the end. Out of all visual novels I have played this one definitely is my #1 go to! Each character has a unique personality and it's all full of love! Please give it a chance! Ever since I played it for the first time 5 days ago I couldn't stop playing it since.
I'm a month late but 100% agree with you both. I was kinda put off by how rushed it was. I understand that the art takes time, coding takes time, and the outling of the story does too but it just left me so bothered after i finished playing through it. It kinda felt like full service, there was a lack of filler or content while playing through
