Hi TheOrangeGecko! The issue with not being able to click buttons is usually due to the game thinking it's in a different resolution than it actually is, so the hit boxes in the menus are offset from what you see on screen. You can try deleting your settings file to reset everything to default. It can be found on your PC here: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\ShopSim\Saved\SaveGames

If you're having trouble finding it, reading this post (and its replies) should help: https://itch.io/post/128793/view-in-topic

Hi Mostwanted! Checked out the video, thanks for the heads up. But this Youtuber is most likely lazy, not intentionally deceitful. As it turns out, he just copied and pasted the description from the itch.io page into his video description. Check out Dasius's description for the game HERE and you'll see it's copied verbatim. Fynnpire does provide the link to the itch.io page as well where Dasius gets the appropriate credit for creating the game.

Yeah, Dasius worked really hard for over a month crushing the game breaking bugs everyone was reporting (he's really dedicated to this project). Can't blame him for taking a short break and enjoying time with his family for a bit. After all, he's a one man team on this one. Don't worry, he'll be back at it soon enough :)

Usually this is the result of the game thinking it's in a different resolution than it actually is. Try changing the resolution to something different and see if that fixes the problem.

This is due to the Resolution Scale setting under Graphics being turned down (which can happen on reload). Drag the slider to the right to correct the blurry vision. Happy Smithing!

Check the menu under Graphics. The slider for "Resolution Scale" needs to be dragged to the right (up to 100% if your machine can handle it without the frame rate drop). Happy Smithing!

Wow! That's real dedication there, and yes, Dasius is aware of this issue. Currently your money is stored as a signed integer, so the maximum value is 2,147,483,647. The overflow into negative was found by one of the testers. The proposed solution is to change to an unsigned integer to increase the max to 4,294,967,295 and add a cap (probably at 4 trillion) to prevent this issue. The only downside is that once you hit that cap, your sales won't mean anything other than recouping the cost of materials you just bought. Anyways, rest easy, the fix is in the works. In the meantime, Happy Smithing!

Hi idoking! After putting hot ingots on the anvil, press and hold Z, then use your mouse to select the option you want. Happy Smithing!

Hi imperialfish! The ingot pricing is much steeper in the latest version. The profit you make on items you sell is a relatively small percentage markup from the cost, but as you get into the higher tiers, you will make more money. The developer knows that everyone has a different pace they'd like the game to play at. Some people thought the previous version was too easy (you'd usually be done by day 10-15 with no reason to keep making more money other than having a big number). Don't expect this pricing scheme to be set in stone, though, we're still in Alpha. Also, Dasius has been working on the idea of having the pricing tied to a difficulty setting so that players can enjoy the game at their own pace, but that's not implemented yet. Hope you're still enjoying the game even with the increased difficulty and Happy Smithing!

Hi BOBTHEKILLER! Items snap together on the workbench in the orientation of the part you're holding. So if you're holding a grip and it's pointed down toward the table, the blade will be wedged in the table when they snap together. When an item gets stuck in the workbench, follow these steps to unstick it:

  1. Grab and hold the item with the Right Mouse Button (RMB)
  2. Continue holding the RMB and Press Alt (or Alt+Ctrl) and move the mouse around to rotate the item.
  3. While still holding Alt (or Alt+Ctrl) release the RMB - The item should remain in your grasp in the orientation you rotated it to
  4. At this point you can drop the item by releasing Alt (or Alt+Ctrl) or grab the item again with RMB

Hope this helps, and Happy Smithing!

Hi Thor30056! I understand your frustration, but currently the developer does not have a Mac on which to build, so don't expect a Mac version to be released anytime soon. There's a discussion HERE about some possible workarounds in the meantime from other users with Macs. You can also add your vote for a Mac version on the MLBS Trello page HERE. Thanks!

Hi Benlkon1! There is no update feature built in, so you'll have to delete the old game files, then download and unzip the new version. Happy Smithing!

Be sure to give Dasius credit somewhere on your page and also provide a link to Dasius's main page as well in case anyone wants to donate :)

Be sure to download the latest version: 0.0.731, it has the fix for heated weapons on reload. You will probably have to start a new game, though. There are compatibility problems with previous version game saves. Happy Smithing!

If the screen appears blurry, it's probably the resolution scale. In the menu, click Graphics, and look for the Resolution Scale slider. Otherwise, try pressing the Reset button under Graphics, then adjust the resolution scale up.

(Edit: Nice timing, Slipcor!) Place 2 or 3 ingots on the anvil ( 2 = one hand hammer head, 3 = great hammer head ), then press and hold "Z" on the keyboard to pop up a menu. Highlight "Blunt" with your mouse and either click or release Z to dismiss the menu. Now hammer on the ingots. Happy Smithing!

Hi Zayzay! Yes, this is a flaw in the current version with how save file data is stored and loaded. There is nothing you can do on your end at this time to fix this, but a patch will be coming soon that addresses this issue. Thanks and Happy Smithing!

Hi Lollerlance! Invert mouse options are coming in the next patch, along with many other bug fixes. Happy Smithing!

To dismiss the character sheet, press P again like you did to bring up the sheet.

Yes, that is the shop from version 0.0.63 or earlier. The screenshots on the itch.io MLBS main page also show off the old shop still.

(EDIT: 3/22/2017 Looks like the screenshots on the main page were just updated to reflect the new version 0.0.72)

Hello BlackOreoCookie!

The AI is a little bugged in the current version. Sometimes dropping the item and picking it back up will get them to take it from you. Also, after leaving the shop, sometimes they'll run around in circles forever. When they do this, no new customers will show up (only one customer at a time currently). You can usually unstick the broken customers by pushing them around. With the timers, they get shorter every game day. So you start with over 150 seconds on day one, but after about 15 days you'll only get about 30-45 seconds. Lastly, Dasius has said that the blueprint is currently incorrectly representing the ingot total for making items so in the meantime here are the recipes:

  • 1 ingot = small (dagger) blade only
  • 2 ingots = one handed sword blade OR one handed hammer head
  • 3 ingots = greatsword blade OR greathammer head

Happy Smithing!

Correct, when an item gets stuck in the workbench, follow these steps to unstick it:

Happy Smithing!

Open the Graphics options in the menu, then click on the button that says Reset. Then adjust the Gamma and Resolution sliders back up. Thanks!

Another player reported having the same problem. Apologies, but I am aware of no recommended solutions at this time. The dev responded to the previous post asking about any other conflicting peripherals. You can read that post and its replies HERE. Thanks!

Also on #3, I know that Dasius is working on balancing the pricing system. The problem at hand is that some players want a casual, quick playthrough with minimal stress or effort, so the pricing would have to be very forgiving. But then other players want a challenge, something that will take a longer time and give them a sense of accomplishment. I don't know which update it would be scheduled for, but Dasius is currently toying with the idea of allowing players to select a difficulty level that will change either ingot pricing or profit margins so that all players can tune the game to their own personal preference. Game balancing (for any game, even board games) can be a very long and tedious process with many missteps, so I'm sure he appreciates any feedback that will help fine tune the system. Thanks for listening, and Happy Smithing!

Hi LeThugdu89! If you haven't already, please check these topics for possible solutions:

Unfortunately, reinstalling the game won't fix the problem since it doesn't delete your savegame or your current settings. They are stored elsewhere on your computer. Try deleting the Settings.sav file located here: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\ShopSim\Saved\SaveGames

For discussion of a Mac version (and some workaround options), please check out this thread: Mac and Linux

I believe music settings are coming in the next patch. Currently, you can only adjust your volume using the Windows Volume Mixer. Thanks and Happy Smithing!

Yeah, sorry. I believe Dasius has mentioned that the 32 bit version of MLBS isn't as stable/reliable as the 64 bit. There's another patch coming out in the next week or two, but I'm not sure if it will resolve your problem or not. But again, if you do come up with a workaround or solution (even if it's something drastic like reinstalling windows), let us know on the boards here in case someone else has the same problems. Thanks, and good luck!

Try running Windows Update before trying to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Runtime and see if that helps. Also, check your system settings and verify whether your version of Windows is 64 bit or 32 bit (x86), and run the run the proper Visual C++ installer.

@MRCTRANSWORK This is a discussion forum for My Little Blacksmith Shop. If you are looking to recruit people to help with your project, please post on the itch.io community forums HERE. Thanks!

@atyourmercy Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills. We all have different strengths that we can lend to Dasius to help him make this game its best. I personally have no experience with optimizing code, so it's great that there are players like you that can help guide Dasius to consider solutions he may not have considered. Thanks and Happy Smithing!

@Redbaron14n Please try to keep the discussions civil and minimize the personal attacks. This is a gathering place for people who all love this game and want the best for it. Dasius appreciates critiques, especially ones that are well thought out and can help make this game even better and enjoyable by as many players as possible. Thanks, and Happy Smithing!

Thanks so much Sphinxyy! You're awesome!
