Looking For:
A 2D Artist With Experience or Interest in UI/UX

Our Team:
A Programmer,
Art Director,
A 2D Animator,
A Music and Sound Designer,
A Game Designer,
A Game Writer (Narrative Designer) (Found through a previous Itch.io post actually!)

Project:
Lost in The Open is a 2.5D turn-based tactical roguelike. Please check out the steam page on https://store.steampowered.com/app/2027380/Lost_In_The_Open/ to see whether this game looks interesting or not to you.
We are a company with a core team of 6 people (recently found our Game Writer). We have been working on this game since 2020.

We are looking for a 2D artist with strong fundamentals who will initially focus on UI/UX, who will
1. Brainstorm and then draw much of the UI/UX assets of the game
2. Draw other ancillary art assets (such as icons, portraits, items, equipment, etc.)
3. Draw anything else that is needed (characters, environment assets, etc.)
4. Able to adapt to the current artstyle and theme of the game

We have to be frugal with our funds. Therefore, expect a home-cooked solution for compensation. We will want to talk about combining a modest salary with revshare or other things, whichever we come up with jointly. If in doubt, just reach out and let's chat.

DM me if you believe you are up for the task! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Length of Project:
Until late 2025.

Split:
Keep expectations low. Revshare and/or salary will be discussed. We are transparent about this.

We are a company with a core team of 5 people. We have been working on this game since 2020.

We are looking for a narrative designer who will do the following
1. Flesh out the universe with worldbuilding and lore.
2. Write crystal clear UI. We need this especially for items/abilities/perks/traits/vendors.
3. Create new events. These are dialogue events in the same spirit as FTL: Faster Than Light.

Ideally, we do this as an unpaid internship. We are open to revshare solutions, however.  We do also have some funds that are left over in our budget. If in doubt, just reach out and let's chat

We are looking for a UI/UX person who is also interested in game design. You will have two main responsibilities: generate lots of UI design ideas, generate lots of UX design ideas and assist in evaluating and generating game design ideas.

You will be working closely with the Unity developer and the game designer. You'll be doing UI and UX with the Unity dev and game designer. It is important that the person for this role is someone who is interested in all aspects of games. We want you to be flexible overall, more so than most members of the team.

It is important that the applicant has enough time to commit to the project and has a stable enough lifestyle right now to commit to about 7 months of collaboration. The game is ramping up in development. It is a plus if you can commit more time to the project, provided funding.

You don't need to have formal UI/UX/Game design experience.

Length of Project:

We are looking for another all-rounder person. You will have three main responsibilities: generate lots of UI/UX design ideas and content, put out content on social media together with other marketers and assist in evaluating and generating game design ideas.

You will be working closely with the Unity developer and the game designer. You will be proposing and fleshing out lots of UI/UX ideas which will be used as the basis for the game's user interface. Equally important, however, is that you are active in producing marketing content for our social media outlets, creating the posts and publishing them. You'll be doing UI and UX together with the Unity dev and game designer, marketing content together with the game designer and additionally help out with game design feedback and ideas when you can. The person for this role is someone who is interested in all aspects of games.

It is important that the applicant has enough time to commit to the project and has a stable enough lifestyle right now to commit to about 8 months of collaboration. The game is really ramping up in development. It is a plus if you are flexible enough to commit more time to the project after a successful Kickstarter.

We are looking for a jack-of-all-trades person. You will have three main responsibilities: generate lots of game design ideas and content, generate ideas for UI and UX (e.g. UI and in-game indicators) and help put together interesting social media content.

The person for this role is someone who is interested in all aspects of games. You also have lots of time on your hands. You will be doing game design, UI design and social media marketing. However, most important is your passion for game design. You are the type of person to spontaneously present interesting game design ideas, while also accepting of having those ideas rejected. You need to be open-minded and creative. You will be working most closely with the lead game designer, but also with everyone else through conversations about the feasibility of your ideas and creating social media content.

It is important that the applicant has enough time to commit to the project and has a stable enough lifestyle right now to commit to about 8 months of collaboration. Looking For:
A Sound Designer

Two 2D Artists,

Lost in The Open is a 2.5D turn-based tactical roguelike. Please check out the steam page on https://store.steampowered.com/app/2027380/Lost_In_The_Open/ to see whether this game looks interesting or not to you.

We are looking for a sound designer. We need sound design for plenty of things, to name a few: cinematic, animations, user-interface responsivity, and more. You will be largely working together with our composer, developer and animators.

We are also looking for a Game/UI designer. This person should ideally be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades person and would be the final member to complete the team. The reason game design knowledge is most important is that the lead developer, who also does game design, needs someone to go back and forth with on game mechanics and game ideas. However, UI design and other skills are also valued, and the more diverse the skills the merrier.

For both of the roles we are looking for, it is important that the applicant has enough time to commit to the project and has a stable enough lifestyle right now to commit to about 8 months of collaboration. The game is really ramping up in development and being flexible enough to commit more time to the project after a successful Kickstarter, for example, is a plus.

Finally, the revshare budget is absolutely up for discussion and will be revisited continuously.

We are looking for an assistant 2D artist. The assistant 2D artist is needed to assist our lead 2D artist in art production. Icon, environment and UI art production in particular need help, but you will get to work with all 2D art. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with and learn from a highly experienced 2D artist.

Icon, environment and UI art production in particular need reinforcement, but you will also get to work with other 2D art. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with and learn from a highly experienced 2D artist.
The UI designer is needed to assist in (re-)designing all of our UI, which has previously been done impromptu by the programmers. It would be great if the person taking on this role would also be able to discuss game design aspects in general as well as do Level Design, although the only requirement is being able to do UI design. Note that this is only about *design*, not implementation. The UI will be drawn and implemented by our artists and programmers.

The 2D animator is needed to animate our characters in combat. There is a need for both rigged animations with idle, walking, etc. and keyframe animations for abilities (i.e. Darkest Dungeon style ability animations). You will be working closely with a 2D artist who is very familiar with collaborating with 2D animators.

Lost in The Open is a top-down turn-based strategy roguelike. The steam page is up and now it is time to ride on that momentum. We need someone to manage as much as possible of our marketing outlets - Instagram, Twitter, YouTube (e.g. devlogs), Facebook (if applicable), Discord community server, steam blogs, reaching out to other creators, etc. We need someone who knows how to create compelling posts and stay organized. We would love for you to be the most active in requesting content for posts that you think will generate great buzz! You should ideally have worked with marketing in some way, e.g. running a channel.

The marketer in our team would receive around 5% of the total revenue of the Kickstarter and final release. It can be more or less depending on how the game develops, how much you help out with trailers, etc. If % is a problem, then let me know. It is negotiable.
