Cool update. Feedback:
- "New Game" really shouldn't erase your save file until you overwrite it, just in case some complete idiot accidentally clicks it. Ask me how I know.
- Should be clearer that "Suite 69" isn't the dressing room at the end of the boarded-up hallway, so no one spends way too much time hiding out in there. Ask me how I know.
- No, seriously, please idiot-proof the New Game button against my stupidity. Or else fix whatever prevents me from loading my previous game after I realize what I've done, quit, and go out.
Works fine for me now! Though--sorry to only have noticed now--I think there's supposed to be a CG during the scene immediately upon entering that room, when Silvia is discovered with Eliza? Currently, it just shows the default bedroom background...which probably should've tipped me off beforehand, but I guess I forgot when I encountered the pure white background.
Also, in Miranda's Villain Mode case, I think I found an incompletely implemented alternate solution; when Eliza mentions "someone must have entered the room," I presented the fingerprints and it...seemed to end the trial rather quickly indeed, with a slightly awkward transition. And sure enough, when I went back with the walkthrough to catch interactions I missed, the third and final piece of evidence gave the exact same scene...is there unused dialogue for that moment?
On that topic, though--having now entirely finished the game in all modes, I'm blown away by everything you managed to do with this story. All the moving parts from one simple premise, the other side of the story we saw in Miranda Mode, and then the alternate versions of each case in Villain Mode--incredibly well done! Must've been fun to write. (Also hell to write, probably. Hence my amazement.) Kudos!
Great game so far! I will say, there's a significant glitch I've encountered in Case 2. For some reason, the hidden room background is just displaying as pure white--UI elements show up, and it displays during conversations, but I had to check the walkthrough to be sure I wasn't missing anything critical...don't think I got the report, unless that's what Miranda found. Any idea what might be causing this, and how to fix it if it happens again?
Edit: Poking around, I noticed that the white screen was supposed to have been fixed in a previous patch...however, the problem persists even after downloading the most recent version of the game and replacing all the files. Although it seems like you said the patch was uploaded "earlier today" on the 4th, while the most recent bugfix devlog was on the 1st, so...? I dunno. Guess this is what version numbers are for.
Love this game, super great work! How do you make your models and animations? I'm working on a game of my own, and I want to have the player character transform a lot like what you do here.
I will say, I noticed an odd glitch with the room just before the boss--it seems that going out and back in respawns the page in that room, which increases the collection counter by one each time you do it. Similarly, the trigger for the final dialogue can be triggered multiple times; in fact, by accidentally attacking at a specific moment, I managed to trigger it twice without leaving the room. Didn't check if it worked again, but it was strange.
Also, I think some of the trigger areas for camera changes could stand to be expanded a bit. On the second floor, between the science lab and the room with the circle of desks, I managed to run past the trigger and wound up navigating the whole room blind because I didn't want to get back in range of the other ghosts. (I'm also not entirely sure the ghosts for that room were properly loaded, as I somehow escaped unscathed.)
Not to say this game was overly glitchy. For a 3D game as complex as this with a team as small as...uh...you, I'm impressed with the quality of the work! Definitely checking out your other games in the future.
