Congrats on your first shot! That's a wonderful milestone 😊

I'm so glad you found it affirming and sweet, and I love the thought of the care in this document spreading far and wide, to your partner and anyone else reading out there.

Thanks for the kind words 💖

Really like this concept for building a mystery and solving it! I was literally thinking earlier today about a language deciphering game idea, and I think this will really help. Thanks Kaden!

Just had a reread of the doc, and it is quite light on mechanics, as it is modeled after and inspired by No Dice, No Masters / Belonging Outside Belonging games, particularly Wanderhome. If you're familiar with Wanderhome I think you'll see the similarities, but I've tidied up the Moves a little to make it clearer. Thanks for the prompt 😊

Thanks Bez! This was thrown together pretty quickly for a jam, so it is definitely less developed than I'd like. That being said, having your interest does give me motivation to continue designing...

If you do want to use any part of this game (for Dexlite or elsewhere), please go ahead, I'd love to hear how it goes!

Thank you! Cozy is definitely what I was going for, I always find fire tending a cozy activity 😊

Hey hey, just added some more now. Thanks for asking :)

Thanks so much for saying so! That makes me very happy to hear :)

This is cool!! I'm a sucker for a picklist, and I love the mechanism of adding options to picklists. Cool stuff, I'll try get it to my table!

You are correct, the first person stays on the joker and the second person continues play until they also make it to the joker.

I’m just a hopeless romantic haha, being inspired by songs is atypical for me

Just added more now :) I’d love to hear how your game with your partner goes, enjoy!

Yo, congrats Adam!!

My partner loves trick taking games, I’ll keep an eye out for yours!

Great stuff as ever Adam! I really like the idea of a shared resource pool in general, and tokens endlessly fascinate me with their potential.

Your second idea, Tiny Puppeteers, reminded me somewhat of the Inside Out movies. I could imagine the different feelings trying to do what they think is best, and coming together to get their human through.

The thing with those movies though is that it’s the lives of the feelings that get a spotlight more than the human, so I’d need to think of a way to make that dynamic more central… 🤔

Keep up the awesome work, as regularly or irregularly as feels enjoyable!

Hahaha 2🐉1🥖 ! It’s more that it’s hilariously thematic 😆

Nice one, this came out real nice!

Thank you! Using a strong narrator voice is new for me, I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊 Best of luck on your quest dear knight, for the Monarch! ⚔️

Love it, highly recommend

Great topic and exploration. I’m far less into social deduction games, and my partner (who is part of my main play group) hates them!
Makes me wonder if it’s possible to have a collaborative social deduction game? There would need to be some automation, perhaps via cards like Trogdor. I’m imagining a deck of NPC action cards, some more powerful than others, or having more resources (like the devil has more gold). The action deck is shuffled and split into 3 representing 3 NPCs, any of whom could be the traitor. I particularly like the idea of a twisted advisor to the king, so perhaps the players are the king’s children/servants/knights/other who know one of the advisors is a crook, but aren’t sure who. They work together to ‘listen in’ on the advisors (by revealing cards from their deck) and after a certain number of turns must guess who the traitor is. I’ll need to do more thinking on what exactly is on cards and how to make it actually deductible for players, but I like the concept haha

Awesome first newsletter Adam! Loved the deep dive into Hanabi and the disconnect between theme and mechanics.

Funnily enough, my first idea for character-to-character was gods and mortals. That is, each player is both a god with a mortal follower played by another player, and a mortal who follows a god played by another player (like Godsend does).

God characters are omnipotent and aim to guide their mortal follower to [do something]. Mortals I guess aim to follow their gods guidance, or buck fate? Much to ponder.

Anyway, great stuff, looking forward to the next issue!

Nice one! Doesn’t need to be drastic to be worthwhile, I hope you can explore your ideal look soon 😊

thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed them. Did it uncover anything new for you?

So looking forward to this! Going to dive into the draft files now 😊

Thanks a bunch! I also love including real life elements in games. I hope you enjoy it when you get around to playing!

Absolutely beautiful in every sense. I can feel the thoughtful and caring design in each sentence. Made me cry, and I loved it!

Thanks for playing and for sharing your playthough Kaden! I enjoyed reading it, and I hope the mirror-maker and Trinidad make it work 🤞🏼

Overflowing with subtext to explore, and gorgeous art too!

I also really liked the use of TTRPG language to create impossible scenarios and build tension and hopelessness and vastness. It's something I enjoy and want to see more of tbh!

Thanks for your thoughts Ben. Take this game as an invitation to expand what the words ‘game’ and ‘play’ can mean…

Made another one! Thank you again, truly 😊

I’m so glad to hear it!! Thank you for playing 😊

IM NOT CRYING YOURE CRYING (we are both crying)

aww thank you so much!!

thanks so much Riwhi!! I wasn’t sure how much impact it would have in its unfinished state, so thank you for saying so 💚😊

I like this. Especially the second-to-last page. Gives me brain thoughts.

Sweet game with lovely illustration!

Made a real cool myth with this, thank you!

Enlightening, all sheep enthusiasts should read, 10/10

Just saw a typo on the page, second last sentence reads ‘bigotry is cozy’ which I’m sure it’s not meant to!

thanks snow, I appreciate the tips and support!

(1 edit)

ooh, thanks snow! I’ve found automatic writing difficult in the past - my brain always wants to get involved! 😆😅
