I do agree that the oversized boobs look a bit ridiculous, Jessica especially, I definitely don’t think it was the brightest idea xD but that being said, that’s what the dev decided to do and given that nobody else is complaining about it, there’s no chance it’s gonna change, right? I don’t think it’s really that big of a deal tbf, the game has a ton of characters and while some may look a bit goofy, you’ve still got a lot of really nice ones too. I’d say just try to ignore the stuff you’re not interested in and focus on the chars you like more. If that’s not good enough, there’s lots of other games of the same genre out there, surely there’s something you’ll like more. Maybe try “A House in the Rift” or “Eternum”. At the end of the day, this is a hentai game, so it’s gonna prioritize unrealistic proportions because that’s just what guys seem to like

Hey man, I had the same problem, the options being off screen is crazy, not sure how it got past bug testing. I’m starting to doubt any was even done… Go back to the school on a Saturday morning when you own the school and there should be one less option on the list, allowing you to click the clock option at the top. Hope that helps

I think most people are in favor of simply allowing for swapping between the two, yeah. I haven’t seen many people who liked the UI change. Personally I don’t mind it, but the options going off the top of the screen is pretty bad. The perfect option would be the ability to choose which UI you want

It seems most people, myself included, are in agreement with you there, so it’s not just your voice

I think MisterFawkes is honestly kinda right. I like this project and I also think he does too. Why would he waste time leaving a comment like this if he didn’t care about the project? Hell, why would he give money to it? I’m doubtful most you guys bashing him gave money…

Onto the actual points though, I don’t care too much about the UI change, but I agree that absolutely no testing was done on it, that much is clear from how content is being locked away due to the option boxes going off the screen, character pictures overlapping with the dialogue boxes meaning you can’t read names in Act 3, etc. While I don’t think the UI took only two days to make, I do think it should take less time than that to fix. If this was a free project and it wasn’t taking any money from anyone then sure, depression sucks, that’s understandable. But Arc is being PAID for this, as such there’s an expectation of results. You can’t promise a product and be paid to complete it, only to take constant breaks every other week. That’s just not how the real world works.

Go ahead, everyone. Downvote me like you did to MisterFawkes, but it doesn’t change the reality of the situation. If Arc wants a break, fine, but he needs to temporarily shut down his Patreon and such, because as it stands, it’s morally wrong and quite possibly illegal, depending on location. If this project is gonna be cancelled, that sucks and i’ll be very upset cuz I love this, it was my first game of this “genre”, but I feel worse for the people who donated to the Patreon for ages, giving away lots of money only for nothing to come of it.

“I'll ignore some Act 2 choice overflows because players can fix those easily”

Mind saying how? Seems like myself and many others are having big issues with that stuff. Changing the resolution does nothing, windowed/full screen doesn’t help, there’s no scrolling and no way to click on off-screen options simply by pressing up

Maybe because i’m on a Steam Deck, but that didn’t work for me. In the end, I found out that if you go to the school on a Saturday morning, there’s one less option on the list and so the option becomes clickable. Definitely yikes though

Update to my previous comment, i’m pretty sure the game is impossible to beat due to the new UI. I’m at the part where you have to make the bomb, but one of the parts (the clock component at the college) seems to be off-screen. It’s currently not possible to click on it, meaning I can’t make the bomb and therefore can’t finish Act 2. I think I speak for everyone when I say please either fix the UI, give us the option to fix the UI (i.e. size scaling) or simply revert it back to how it was before. I’m sure people would be happy with any of those. It feels like a pretty immediate fix too for a game dev to patch in. If it’s to the point where the game is impossible to beat, it should really be a top priority imo

Same, feels like content is being unintentionally locked away because the UI was implemented pretty poorly

I’m not sure if this has been reported on yet, but I have a really major issue. I took a break from the game and just came back to see the new UI. It’s whatever, but now when things are being listed, they go off the screen for me. In the club for example, the options are Claire, Gwen, etc, but Claire is halfway off the top of the screen and Chloe is completely impossible to choose because she’s just off the screen entirely. There’s no way to scroll up, it feels like a pretty big issue to make it into a release. It wasn’t an issue before, only now with this new UI. If you wanna change the UI then you do you, but please make sure to check these things first.

I actually really like this game, I left a comment ages ago actually. It just hurts a bit because Act 2 is becoming hard to play because of this kind of issue. Can you maybe add an option for UI size scaling so we can make the list smaller so more things fit on the screen at once? or make it two lists side by side, idk, i’m not a game dev. If i’m doing something wrong then tell me, but i’ve tried window mode and that didn’t change anything.

Well, let me say first of all that I greatly appreciate how accepting you’re being of the criticism, it does make me hopeful knowing that you understand what i’m saying. I think a good compromise point would be, like- if you’re truly wanting to do the combat stuff and you feel it’s necessary to tell the story, then i’m sure a lot of people could get behind that, just so long as the story and such doesn’t fall behind as a result, if that makes sense. I’m not saying this to kiss ass or anything, but this really has been one of my favorite, uh… “adult games”, shall we say. I do honestly thing the story itself is pretty good on a regular game level (as h games are notorious for bad stories). Just, if it takes time, i’m sure the community is willing to wait, myself included. Just so long as the story hasn’t been forgotten.

Sidenote, as the creator, i’m curious. Who’s been your favorite character to write so far?

I’m gonna be honest, Act 1 was a bit slow but still fun, and Act 2 made this one of my favorite games of the genre. Act 3 though, hoo boy, it’s lowering this game’s charm from a solid 9/10 to a 6/10 at best. The combat is boring and lazy and the story feels like it’s been sidelined. I know me saying this isn’t going to change anything, but i’ll say it nonetheless. Remove the entire combat system and create a separate title for it. Just make it a spin-off title and keep this game as the visual novel that it was in Act 1-2. Either that, or make it bonus content.

When I found the “skip all combat” button, I thought it was smart, but sadly all it does is water everything down and it shows that the amount of effort has gone down significantly in the story. This game doesn’t need a combat system. This really has been one of my favorite games of the genre until this point, but i’ve completely lost my desire to keep playing it. When the game officially launches, perhaps just make this battle thing a bonus mode in the extras menu or something. It really has no place in a game that built a fanbase on its visual novel aspects, amazing characters and well-written story.

My advice to anyone reading these reviews is to give this game a chance, it’s very good for the first two acts (which is a pretty big chunk of content). That being said, make sure you save the game on a separate file before entering Act 3, as you’re almost certainly gonna be going back to it a bunch, as it’s where the charm lies.

Sadly, 6/10 currently. Really praying for some kind of fix here, because the disappointment has been immeasurable. This game has so much potential, but the dev just seems to want to add more and more new features rather than delivering the visual novel that got everyone’s attention in the first place. Play to your strengths, stop trying to be everything at once. It never works out in the end
