I loved it !
I like the how you used the theme and limitation.
The music was good too.
But It was too hard and fast for me after the second song.
Very good game ! Everything is nice done and polish.
Just one flaw: I was a bit frustrate not finding how to pick the strawberry in the level with an switch.
Because after doing only jumping, I forgot that the character was actually throwing candies.
And mainly because the switch looked like a lollipop to collect.
That's a good point. Yes, maybe.
Thanks for the compliment.
Yes, it's short. I didn't sleep enought because it was my first game jam and I tried to do it without subscribing to be sure I would finish it but it was longer to make than I thought. I was like "I hope I'll finish it soon to enjoy the weekend !" but I knew I would have so much regret if I gave up. It was pretty intense.
I will first continue to learn Godot and than I would probably do a new version. The feedbacks gives paths of improvement and new features. ;-)
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the AI is minimal :-/
Great idea about more kids becoming ghost ! It give me some fun ideas ! :-D
I have though about reusing the ghost sprite floating above when loosing, but not as a gameplay feature.
I will first finish the tuto I was watching for learning making 2D games in Godot because I was learning and then I tried to do the jam on a whim. It was my first game with Godot and doing tilemap so I made mistakes about it I think.
Thank you for your feedback !
OK, maybe I should add a instruction screen at beginning. I wanted to add a title screen but I didn't have the time.
Yes the ghost are pretty dumb. They try to goes to you but they don't know if they can go for exemple right without taking a wall, so if they are stuck, they take a random direction. Did you have this feeling because of the AI ?
Nice idea for the special candy, thanks !
The art is good and cute and the concept is interesting. I love your idea of being the candy !
But I was confused that the traps were placed in front of me while I advance.
I understood after that they're placed where the cursor is but then you need to don't be near the "ennemies" to place them and so they don't pursuit you.
Good art, good used of limitation, but it lacks interest because the game is easier without using traps !
Nice idea and game !
I find some problems about the difficulty:
I had to read the comments to see the 2 buttons and even after that I didn't get what to do in the first screen. The explanations comes after, in the level 1.
The first screen ("level 0") and the level 2 are way more difficult to pass then the next levels.
(Also, there is no difference between "Help" or "Start")
I think the level 2 should be before the level with the text "Flavor is Burst" because he's a bit similar and easy when you understand the mecanic but very hard if you don't get which path to take.
I gave up against the chocolate boss.
I didn't see the lifebar become smaller after a hit so I tough you have to jump to attack him above the paper...
Then I replay the game.
I find that he sometimes attacks without warning but mainly he requires too much hits !
After many hits his lifebar was small but I gave up cause I was then get hitted (by walking too much...)
I liked that the enemies change direction with the player.
Thank you !
It's just about scoring, there is no limit to the number of candies.
You loose if you get hit by a ghost.
You have to go back home when you don't feel safe, to consider that you did the score of x candies.
The number of ghosts increases until 4, when you have 30 candies. After that, the difficulty stays the same.
Thank you for the review.
Yes, the idea was to choose the direction to take at the next intersection, if you want to change direction, to let you some time to choose with the 2 buttons limitation.
I wanted to force the player to anticipate the game while struggling with the kinda handicap of 2 buttons-only.
It might be a bit more difficult to play (and to program ^^).
