I love Borges so this is pretty fun to see.

As the dev said, in Borges' original story the texts are literally just random. What's fun about that is that theoretically every book every written is in this library, just buried under piles of illegible garbage. People search the library for sacred texts and moments of meaning. It's almost a religion of finding order in chaos. Very cool; I actually think a markov chain version, while more fun to interact with, misses that interpretation.

Hey, I like it a lot, it's very strange and surreal. I can see how this is a natural extension of your other "wonky 3D" work.

I love the overall graphical style, and I really like the UI that pops up when you approach and click on a bookcase. The only issue is that I had no desire to use it after playing with it for a few moments, because all the text is clearly garbage.

What if some NPCs discover books with sections that are not gibberish, and they tell you and their followers about them? eg. "I was on floor 325, in room C, and in the left hand bookshelf in the middle of the top shelf was a book with an actual phrase on page 12!" and then you go there and the book says, on page 12, "Be not afraid" or something. Or, I suppose NPCs could hide things in the pages of books, like messages they write each other. I just think this mechanic is really cool and should actually matter.

I also think the walk speed is kind of fast, and it feels odd that you can jump into the hole but not fall through it. You should either make it impossible to get inside the boundary of a hole, or you should allow players to fall if they are able to do that.

Thank you for flagging this! This is  pretty strange, it's probably a bug in Unity itself which means my ability to fix it might be limited.

It sounds like it isn't causing a major issue; would it impact your experience of the game too much if this remained unfixed? I've stopped supporting Spinnortality with bug fixes since it's quite old these days, and I only have time to fix bugs that really impact the play experience.

I got a 5/10 and had a great time, such a creative concept!

Hi, is there any update on river forks?  The city in my world has a fork which is centrally important to the city's layout, so I'd like to know if  it's worth waiting for a  river update or if it would be better to make the map myself.

We fixed this a while ago, sorry I didn't see your comment! In the settings menu go to "Game settings", then use the "Freelook sensitivity" slider.

Hi, thanks for writing to update your post! Glad to hear you were able to fix the issue. :)

Hi, it should be fixed now!

oh, and could you also attach the player.log file in here? You should find it in this folder:

  • Windows: c:/users/[you]/appdata/locallow/James Patton/spinnortality
  • Mac: (logs:) ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
    (saves:) ~/Library/Application support/unity.JamesPatton.Spinnortality
  • Linux: .config/unity3d/James Patton/Spinnortality

Hi, you're not the first person to find this bug but it's proving difficult to pin down. Could you tell me what graphics card and CPU you're using?

Thanks!
