That's exactly what I was aiming for with Claire!
There's 6 routes in the game, and a big overhaul update is coming later this month :)
The writing is in the same boat as the art. After the Fall started off as a community version of Love in the Woods. It was created specifically because Love in the Woods would not share assets with the community. According to the original creator of AtF, anybody should be allowed to use and modify the contents of After the Fall and create their own versions, which is what I did. I wasn't satisfied with the direction and progress of After the Fall, so I made what I consider an improved version of it. "It's not a good look" is a meaningless derogative that people use when they just want to pick a side based on their feelings without considering facts. I use AtF content in accordance with their licensing terms, plain and simple. Anybody can see for themselves that AtF is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial Sharealike 3.0, listed in the credits of the game they've been distributing for years, but the current devs are claiming ignorance and lying to people to protect their own interests. If the current AtF developers wanted to keep their project closed off, they should have made their own version from the ground up instead of taking a free and open source game. The fact that they took control of a project and failed to understand how the licensing on it works is frankly embarrassing, indefensible, and on some level illegal. Both the main artist and main writer, who no longer work on the projects but were instrumental in getting them off the ground, have called out AtF and LITW on their bullshit and given me their blessing to continue this project.
I already have a few ideas that will drastically change a lot of the game to hopefully make it more interesting. I'm not so much concerned with the game's popularity as I am with expressing myself through the story and providing an enjoyable experience to those who do play. I'd still like to hear your thoughts and ideas though. You can email me at trashgaems@protonmail.com or add me as a friend on discord. Name is codanon.
I'm glad you and your friends enjoyed the demo. The game as a whole is still very incomplete and I plan on overhauling and rewriting many of the existing scenes, so a lot of translation work would go wasted at the moment. I'd like to talk with you more about it in the future after the next update though!
Some events are loosely based on my experiences. The story is largely based on my feelings during my time in college but not necessarily based on literal events. Most of the characters take on traits of my friends and myself and people I've encountered.
There is a lot more to come. The game is only about 1/3 finished and hardly reaches the halfway point of the full game. I will go back and overhaul a lot of aspects when I resume work. The second half of the game will focus more on the character you're dating. Every route will have unique good and bad endings.
Someone once offered to translate the game to Polish, but I said he should wait until it's finished first. Idk if he's still interested in doing so. I'm mostly working on this project alone with the help of commissioned artists, and I don't speak any languages other than English so I can't provide a translation on my own but I'll look into a semi-official Spanish translation because like half of my followers are from Spanish speaking countries.
Studying for literature class, offering Ellen the cinnamon roll, telling her she looks young, telling her you're dying, telling Gunner you're looking for someone mature are some of the factors that can unlock her route. Then go to the literature seminar and stay behind and accept her drink. Be careful to avoid the choices that heavily bias you toward one character's route, like calling Claire fat.
