This was so cool to watch, thank you for playing!

Thanks for playing our game!

For the first phase of the boss, you can actually hit both paws at the same time which will likely reduce the amount of hits you take by half. Beyond that, as soon as it starts blinking you should run away and then when the boss repositions on top of you dash either left or right IMMEDIATELY. The timing is hard- this was intended.

We do plan on having difficulty selection in the future and the current version of the game will likely be the "normal" mode.

Also, if you'd like to see a run of the game we just set up our speedrun.com leaderboard: https://www.speedrun.com/1bit_kitty

Super fun to play through! Really a unique idea to introduce "bugs" as mechanics.

Only critique I have is the wall jumping felt awkward and not intuitive in my opinion.

Great job though!

Cute game!! Really impressed with the polish you were able to achieve, everything felt great.

Really cute game, LOVED the art (and the cats but we're biased)!!

I thought the concept of having to unravel the ball before getting to the finish was interesting but turned in to more of an hinderance for gameplay.

Great game, loved the story and you inspired me to read the book that the game is based on!

Really fun overall! I thought the theme was clearly related and the gameplay loop was interesting and unique.

:3 this is actually a reference to our good friend who's rat's name is Lucifer

Thanks for playing and reviewing our game!!

As the dev for all the combat elements I totally agree, I really wish I had time to add particle effects, more thumpy hit sounds and knockback, I think it would have made combat way more balanced and impact-y like you said- will probably end up continuing to work on the game to add nice touches like this after the jam ends :)

I don't want to spoil anything, but yeah, that's correct- you pretty much need to beat the game to really get the overall theme

Thanks again and I'm excited to check out your game!

thank you for the kind words!! we're glad you enjoyed <3

thanks for checking Maze out! It would be a good feature in theory but on the last level there are 3 exits and only 1 is real, that feature might ruin the challenge of figuring out which one is real

"frustratingly fun" is exactly what we were going for! thanks for checking Maze out

i'm glad you liked it! level two is definitely a hard one, if we had more time we would have tried to balance the levels a bit more so they progressively get harder. and all thanks to Kennr for the original sound track!

thanks for checking Maze out :) it definitely is difficult but that was the intention so it's more rewarding when you figure out the best (and fastest) strategies! Our team has been getting completion times around 1:30 for reference
