Thanks, could you actually either write a small explanation of what happened as you played and what you were thinking, doing, and were confused about as you played? If you could post this on the YouTube community post comment OR email me at support@derndeff.com, I would greatly appreciate it. : ) So far I haven't had anyone play while I was watching, so a written summary is the best I'll get until then.
Hey there! I have enough polished and put together right now for a demo, but there's a few more things I'm currently adding to make the demo a fully, more cohesive experience. I'm also going to make a new trailer and do a little rebranding for the game to make it more marketable, and then I'll make a video and release the demo (all of this is a lot of work for marketing!). At the very latest, there will be a demo out for Steam's October next fest (with a YouTube video), but I would expect to hear sooner. I will likely put together a discord and announce that probably on a YouTube community post so that people can help play test.
I could have released stuff earlier, but I've never made a full game before and I'm worried Steam users have a bit of a higher quality expectation, haha. I'm also banking a fair bit of marketing strategy on YouTube gaming videos, so I want the demo to be a great reflection and a good tease of what the game has to offer. I'm playing it safe on the quality and polish end, and it means I'm a bit slower than I'd like lol.
Thanks for reaching out!

Hi there, did you click on "more info" and "run anyway" isn't listed as an option? If so, I would recommend downloading the itch app and installing the game through there (similar to Steam) https://itch.io/app
Definitely nothing on my end, however, I would recommend you try out itch's desktop app if you're having issues and not already using it. It's similar to Steam and I thought it worked quite well when I tried it: https://itch.io/app
Great suggestions, I think these are good notes. Having more clear and more often reminders on the mechanics/tips in a non-obstructive way is definitely something I've learned going forward.
I've gotten several suggestions for difficulty customization and having a customizable experience for those who want more enjoyment out of the game is definitely something I'll be adding to my next game!
I think I'm content with the flaws of this game (at this point, it's not worth the effort adding more stuff/fixes instead of making a new, better game). I think you'll really enjoy my next game!
