i like Simplescreenrecorder for linux. it can do 720p 60fps. If you record to webm you can then use https://cloudconvert.com/webm-to-gif to get a nice gif.
I've been testing out Shinmera's Portacle : http://shinmera.github.io/portacle
It is an easy to install, integrated GNU Emacs / Common Lisp / Quicklisp / Git tools for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Any required libraries (DLLs on windows) can go in the ./portacle/lib folder, and your added lisp code goes in ./portacle/projects
If you try it out please let us know about your experience!
Works great on a Win10 laptop here.
Hello to the itch.io community! I have opened a community message board here for 3x0ng, my retro versus soccer-breakout-pong game. You can see a recent vid here of my friend and I playing a local versus match with gamepads: 3x0ng Smack Talk on YouTube
I would love to hear your comments and will be happy to answer any questions, accept bug reports, and receive feedback. I can also consider and possibly implement your feature/fix ideas!
I am also looking for people to test the network gameplay! It works but hasn't been extensively tested. I would love it if some people tried to play with each other, or even with me! It'll help if you can forward one port to your machine... a basic UPnP client is included, but it doesn't work with some routers at the moment---so the player running the Server instance will need a port open.
So that's my pitch----join the 3x0ng forums, download the game and try it for yourself! I really like the direction development is going in---it's become one of my personal favorite projects. Accordingly I'd like to implement more gameplay modes and options, further improve the AI for single-player mode, implement player suggestions, and refine the netplay experience.
You can participate! 3x0ng is available FREE for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux and is Free Software under LGPL. Grab your gamepad (or the arrow keys!) and have fun! And please enjoy the forum---I want to hear your comments and suggestions.
Thanks! ----David O'Toole
Hi Fidgety thank you for playing, and thanks for your kind words. I agree that more work is needed in some areas, and I would definitely like to step up my game designs to the next level. I am moving into the world of 3-D for my next game, a reboot of 2x0ng for later in 2017. I hope my next releases address the issues you raised. Thanks again for taking the time to play (and comment!) and I hope you will check out my future games.
I'm so happy to see everyone participating and posting :)
I thought I'd also mention for those who may have missed the news, we are having the New England Lisp Games Conference here in Massachusetts, USA on August 13th: http://xelf.me/nelgc.html it is a free event at a cool video arcade with hands-on demos, tech talks about lisp games, and a big-screen 3x0ng mini-tournament. :) and I hope to see you there!
Updated to 0.8 with plenty of improvements:
- Improved terrain generation
- Award extra life at every 5 levels
- Changed player-bouncy-bullet color to avoid confusion with enemy bouncy bullets.
- Call garbage collector during each level transition
- Fix collision detection issue with player bullet in some cases with stationary enemies
I am working on a good old fashioned robot shooting game for our 2016 Spring Lisp Game Jam: https://itch.io/jam/spring-2016-lisp-game-jam now available in playable alpha on Windows and Linux. (Mac version soon.)
The game is called INV8R: http://dto.itch.io/inv8r
The newest release (v0.4) includes level generation improvements, a new enemy that shoots bouncing blue lasers, and an Oxygen gauge that will kill you if you don't complete the level in time. This is accompanied by color coding and sound effects. Here is a video:
And another nice animated GIF:
I will be updating this Itch devlog with each new release, and would love to hear any feedback you might have. I have 7 days remaining in the game jam, and I'll be putting out 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 until finally 1.0 is submitted for the jam deadline. I'd like to continue developing the game after that time and expand it a bit further.
I'll be hacking some more today on the game and I'll post some other thoughts as well.
I hope you find the Gifs interesting and consider playing the game!
Watch this thread for updates.
