Semantic nitpicking but… you don’t “fire” a bow or a spear. “Shoot” would be much more appropriate.

My rapier is 125cm long. My sidesword is only a bit shorter (123cm). My sabre is 96cm long. Only my arming sword would - barely - count as “medium”, being 88cm long. My parrying dagger (57cm) would also count as “medium”.

I’m a bit confused about why this system claims to be based on the classic x-in-6 mechanic.

It’s stated in the blurb, and again in the text. Then the text describes a roll-over mechanic, which x-in-6 is not (it’s roll-under, that’s why it’s called “x-in-6”). Then when it finally describes the actual DAD6 mechanic, it’s a dice pool. Completely different.

Hi. Nice little ruleset! I love x-in-6 rolls, they deserve more love.

I spotted a small typo: in the “Toughen” bullet point, there’s a capital letter I instead of the number 1.

“Unoffial”

Oh! OK. I didn’t realise it’s a link.

There’s a “Contents” footer on every page.

Bookmarks would be nice.

Thanks for sharing!

There’s a slight typo on page 7: “Traveler” should be spelled “Traveller”.

Hi Chris. Obviously, this free PDF is already a great handout for new players, but someone on Reddit made me realise that it would be perfect if the “Player’s Handbook” (pages 292-293 of the full book) would be included here as well.

The word “dices” doesn’t exist. “Dice” is the plural of “die”.

Much better!

Fun fact: there were historical combo weapons. The bayonet, of course, but also many kinds of sword-pistol and knife-pistol.

My favourites however – simply because because they are quite bonkers – are described in Fiore dei Liberi’s treatise: if you look at the “Axe in Armor” section, paragraphs 15-17, you’ll see a poleaxe-bola combo and a poleaxe that delivers a blinding caustic powder.

“CC 4.0, or whatever” isn’t a valid license. Even “CC 4.0” isn’t (the one in the link is “CC BY 4.0”).

A license is a legal contract. Either use it properly, or don’t use it at all.

A couple of complementary typos:

if its under your attribute,

It should be “it’s”.

Armor blocks it’s value DMG

It should be “its”.

the twenty-file project page limit

Ah, that’s why you use zip files! I was wondering but now it makes sense.

Mice are already sentient. The word you’re looking for is “sapient”.

Of course, and I do appreciate the time you’ve clearly put into this project. Please keep in mind, however, that adding bookmarks really just takes minutes. I do it myself on the PDFs I have that lack them (that’s how I noticed the discrepancies in the table of contents, by the way).

Have a nice day!

Hi, first of all, I love this project, and thanks for sharing, for free even!

But I do have some criticism:

  • Please add bookmarks to the PDF. It’s trivially easy to do, and makes the PDF much more usable.
  • The table of contents is a bit messy. Some chapters aren’t listed (Complications, Armory), some are grouped under a new name (Travel Procedures, Factions, NPCs & Bestiary).
  • Please update the version number whenever you update the file. It’s what, the third revision now?, all of them marked as “Version 1.0 | December 2022”.

It reminds me of Otherkind and Ghost/Echo.

The PDF could benefit from a revision. On one hand it's beautiful, nice layout, gorgeous art. On the other hand… no author attribution, no date, no artwork credits, not TOC, no bookmarks (NO BOOKMARKS!! Adding bookmarks is trivial and should be mandatory for any PDF longer than 4 pages). There are also several instances of "it's" that should be spelled "its". The "Video Explanation" paragraph is also weird and incomplete.

Any love for those who don't want to print everything?

In Acrobat Reader, it's in the menu "View" -> "Page Display" -> "Show Cover Page in Two Page View".

Unfortunately, in Acrobat Reader there's no button and no keyboard shortcut for it, you got to use the menu. That's one reason why I prefer other PDF readers (PDF-XChange Editor on Windows and Foxit on macOS).

Most PDF readers (as in, all but the most rubbish ones) have the option to consider the cover as a separate page when viewing two pages side-by-side. In other words, you can choose to have the odd pages on the left or on the right side. There's no need for a version "optimized for two-page on-screen viewing".

Is there a pun I'm missing, or did you misspelled "botanicals"?

It's "bestiary", not "beastiary".

Yeah, of course. I understand.

This is very nice.

It irks me a little, though, that the odds are wrong (15% instead of 12.5% and 85% instead of 87.5%).

Fixed, thanks.

The PDF seems to be corrupted. Or something.

Game like its it's 1972

Hi!

In #1, there's a link to "Der Tresor", which isn't available any more.

Luckily, there's "Der Tresor II".

Something to consider in case you want to upload an updated PDF.

One of the players will take the role of the Quest Giver

Unreadable.

Small typo: page 1, line 1, "who’s" should be "whose".

Just a minor note on the layout: at every chapter the decorative banners flip side. Not a huge deal, but a bit annoying. The banners also stick out a bit too much, maybe make their background grey like the page?
