Nice short game with great art and an intriguing idea.

More or less all (small) things I would criticize have been mentioned by other comments (I am happy I wasn’t the only one soft locking himself).

But one thing I personally don’t like are the music and SFX. The music is too repetitive for me (good in the beginning, but if you play longer times - because you have to restart for example - too much for me), and the SFX can be quite harsh, especially the Hideous Hymn has something at the end of the sound which is just loudly “scratching” in my headphones. The same thing is not as bad with stereo speakers. So for my run through I just muted the tab.

But it seems others like the music and SFX, so my opinion might be an exception.

Thank you for the nice and elaborate comment! I agree with the hand holding, having problems with how to play seemed to be the main problem for all so far (too much to remember for a game jam gam, and the tutorial also not being really clear). To mitigate that a bit for this game, we made the tutorial video. But seems most people miss it.

Hey, you are the entire time in control of the player movement and can walk away with WASD, and walk up to the tutorial again if you need to know something.

There is also a short 2 min video in the sidebar, as the tutorial might be unclear on some things (for example where outside is).

Sorry for it not being clear, but a better UI and Tutorial died due to no time left. Originally we also wanted a day system (which already had scaling difficulty in code), but had to change it to one endless timer due to time too.

I also really like the game. For the time frame of a game jam a really impressive work (I know the problems of scope and no time also from my own submission).

But I personally got stuck once. When changing the map to a new one, the new one didn’t have the correct resource type to build the house (or I missed the one tree which had it) and I was unable to go back to a previous map, so probably better if you can already travel to old locations even without the house.

Should I have missed something, feel free to tell me.

Pretty short, but fun
