This was a really cute and fun game! The music matched the vibe really well too. It's a perfect size for a game jam, but if you end up continuing to work on this, it would be cool to be able to use coins for vending machines to get more trash or something. This was one of my favorite entries, thanks so much for submitting! I love the idea of using the enemy projectiles as your own, but it took awhile for me to realize I could do that. A little more instruction would be nice, but that doesn't impact the enjoyment I had playing. Well done!

Pretty fun and gorgeous game for sure. I left some more feedback in here!

Awsome game, really loved the use of the requirement here, it is cool to be able to use your own weapon as a shield to suck up enemy bullets and then fire them back, it reminds me of something Ratchet and Clank would do. Not sure where the turn up the heat theme fits in though.

The art is really nice too, the lighting used also really adds to it too really well. The sound for picking up health cracked me up too.

Although it would have been cool to be able to use the coins to spend it on upgrades too maybe.

this was an amazing game. my only wish is that it went on longer instead of it ending, the game is simple to pick up and play, which I think is important for a game jam. if it werent for the description, I would've thought the game just stopped working. I hope you keep working on this and polishing the game

A very nice game. I wish it told you about being able to suck up enemy projectiles, and there being a way to use the vending machines in case all the enemies left are the melee ones and you've used everything else up. Plus while I'm sure the coins count as a score, it might be nice to give them some use.

Disclaimer: I fully understand this is a game jam game not everything can be done but even then I give very "tough" feedback so if you can't handle that kind of "criticism" it's ok just don't read my message.

I atleast myself don't really see the theme application, it might be the story but it's a little bit of a stretch if you were to ask me.
It would be nice to have a counter either in UI or above player of how many "ammunition" they currently have as it is kind of hard to tell (at first glance for me atleast) how much I have left... also more clear feedback when you have no "ammunition" and also when you have "full" too as I see you can only have so much.
Slight Edit: It took me a second attempt to realize this is already a thing but it is still kind of hard to tell so I'd suggest sound effects too for when you have full and no ammunition at the very least.
The UI right now seems quite big, not that is a problem right now but it could be in the future if you were to add more UI elements (and also obviously continue working on the game) so I'd say just be careful with that.
The character sprite pops a little too much atleast in my opinion in the sense of it feels like a different style compared to most of the rest of the assets, remember, consistency is key.
It's unfortunate about the "You Win!" screen but that's the only bug I found and atleast you are aware of it so only thing I'll do with this one is suggest which I suggest you could add either highscore of coins alongside the coins of "this run", enemies defeated, it all depends on the focus of this screen and the game's goal obviously so do what you must.
These types of games benefit a lot from enemy variety, 2 enemies is already more than most but I'd say around 5 is the "sweet spot" in my opinion

All in all. Pretty fun and I like the concept, good job.

Thanks for the detailed feedback :)

The art style is beautiful! The sound design complements it very well. You know the game is good when you can't stop playing, which was me in this case. I've encountered one bug where I god stuck near the edge of the map and I had to restart. I couldn't duplicate it again though.  Great job overall!

Loved the mechanic!

Took me a few seconds to realize how to get it going, but once I did it was a blast.

Felt smooth and although I wasn't sure how much damage a bullet does to me or to the enemy, to calculate how dangerous the situation is, I managed to learn it by hand and it was great.

Loved the artwork aswell, music sets the tone too - lovely!

Very cool concept and great execution!  Love the fact that you can suck up enemy projectiles.  Also great SFX, the health sound is great.

Like others have said, I believe an improvement would be to respawn the trash every now and then, or perhaps  when you get near a vending machine it uses all your collected coins to generate trash.  After 2-3 minutes in game I found that I had run out of trash on the level and was relying on enemies shooting at me in order to get ammo.

Nice job!

Such a cool idea and implementation. Love the graphics! And the idea that you can suck the projectiles from the enemy is awesome.

Would still be cool if you the trash would respawn or something (like a person coming out of their house and dump trash on the street or something)

I liked the concept very much. The visuals and the music are really good too. The only thing is that it was a little bit difficult for me to control. One thing I missed was a close combat option, maybe make the movement of the vacuum hit the enemies, but this is only a suggestion in case you continue with the game. Congrats for the submission!

woooow super fun game!! I really liked it, the vacum mechanic wa very smart,  my only comment would be that I never knew how many lives did I have hehe. amazing work

This is fun. I didn't realise at first that you can suck up the enemy bullets, but it was a nice moment when I did. I kind of wish the trash that you suck up got shot out looking the same instead of as generic bullets, but the visual effects still look great. Great pixel art and game design. Nice work!

Simple and fun game with intuitive controls.

Adding additional enemies such as small and fast with big and strong aliens would make the gameplay a little more diverse. Which would then lead to a possible additional game mechanic design with allowing player to choose between additional abilities. Such as quick dash, explosive damage, or anything that would be easiest to make and test.

Overall, satisfying gameplay with a recognizable game structure. Well done.

Fun game ! For some reason reminds me about Zombies ate my Neighbours)

What I liked:

  • Nice take on the focus
  • Like the two phases collect/fire
  • Collecting trash

What can be improved:

  • Break a bit the receptivity with some boss (perhaps there is one and I did not see it)
  • Perhaps,  be able to destroy things to get ammo, but in the same time clearing the way for enemy ?

Hope it helps

Really great little game. The mechanics were well done and the art was nice. I beat the game with 58 coins. I am pretty sure more coins despawned on me than I managed to collect.

This was great!

Pretty fun game, though I didn't really see that "turn up the heat" part of it. Did I miss something?

The enemy waves get increasingly harder after each round :)
