Will there be any way for those who missed out on the kick starter to purchase an early access steam key? I really want to support the development of this and didn't get the chance to via kick starter.

I hope to, revisit after voting has finished, I want to add rouge-like elements to it, with Random level generation, a few enemies and a score based on how many levels can be cleared.
Then there's the whole matter of sound and music...

Thanks for the feedback, I did have some issues with the AI of the enemies, the way the character warps from screen to screen really restricts the usable space.
I wont deny that the limited health does make it a challenge to actually beat the game (lucky all that you need to do is find and beat the boss!)

Curious to know what input method you we're trying to use?
The non-keyboard controls were put in around the play station classic controller (ps1), although really any controller should work so long as your looking at the axis,

as for the greyed-out options, the game highlights the selected button.
