Thanks a lot! So glad my programmer poetry is being received so well!

Thank you so much, we're really glad the don't starve vibes came through, our artists took a lot of inspiration from there :)

Thank you for the kind words, we're glad you enjoyed the poems!

Your feedback is absolutely fair as well, we honestly didn't get around to adding proper hitboxes. The trouble was that we were working with 3D assets AND 2D assets and hadn't quite figured out how to handle hitboxes in that scenario, hehe.

Thank you Ristray! Wouldn't that be nice?

At the start I was hoping at the end of the game we could add a list of all the wishes other players have entered to be displayed on Laila's list, but sadly it was beyond the scope of our two-week project this time! If we decide to continue working on it, this would be my top priority for sure, though :)

The time has come for Christmas cheer!
And thus people send out their heartfelt wishes
to one another, with every year.

Some are modest, some are grand. Guide them to safety,
in the waters of these snow-blanketed lands!

--------------------------------

Winter Wishes is a sweet Christmas-themed (mini-)game in which you nudge messages in bottles towards land as a water spirit.
Can you manage to get all bottles to land and read the messages locked inside?

Take the bottles containing precious wishes to shore safely! Dodge rocks and make use of currents to nimbly maneuver the bottle to its destination.

We hope you'll enjoy our fourth prototype 'Winter Wishes'! Check out our page if you are interested and let us know what you think in the comments!

Hohoho why thank you, good sir! By the end of February, our fine association of Fair Fire will decide upon which of the exhibited prototypes shall be fully developed. Perhaps another gander at our page by then will enlighten you on forthcoming events, hmm?

Thank you very much Wildgoose999!

Thank you :3

Thank you very much!

Really???  Yay!
Thank you for telling us! We didn't know, so maybe there is indeed no notification for stuff like this.
We are quite new to itch, so we are really happy with this news!
Thank you!

Thank you so much!

Glad to know the game description matched your expectations! :D
We also hate it if a game promises us something and it does not deliver it in the end.
Thanks for your wishes and kind reply :3

Will you do whatever it takes to win in the grandest race of the century?
It is natural, that only the noblest and intellectually advanced individuals associate themselves with phenomena as grand as themselves: the Balloonomania Race!

Goal of the game

Sabotage other balloonists in a frenzy for the highest score, though beware competitors will share this aim!

Stay airborne! Other competitors will try to eternally sink you, so you'll have to sink them first or avoid them altogether.
Maneuver your way through the wind currents whilst you repair your vessel, dodge or sabotage others!

Style

Step into a 1800 poster that has come to life! For this prototype, we created an artstyle based on all kinds of posters and postcards from the 18th and 19th century.

If you are interested, please feel free to visit the game page at:

Hope you enjoy!

I see, thanks for the info! And good luck with the new games :)

Gosh I suck at this haha

Hahaha XD Looking forwards to it!

Okay last question. I make (branching) story games (in unity) too sometimes. What do you recommend to use to plan your stories? Do you write it in a document like google sheets or docs or do you use software like twine or yarn spinner? Keeping track of the story has always been a major challenge for me. What do you use?

Both the stories of Link's Awakening and Edith Finch (unfortunately I haven't played Outer Wilds) were very moving (and so sad!) as well. I think you have really managed to grasp similar strength their stories hold, and used it to tell your own stories. Do you plan to make more story games?

(1 edit)

So you knew nothing of unity or C# at all? O.O Then I must say I'm even more impressed XD

I think making small games like this will give you a lot of experience. Though if you are doing this as a hobby, then the most important thing is that you enjoy doing it :)

If you need some help, I am part of a team with a developer and artists (2D and 3D).  And I am the designer. If you got some questions concerning any of those diciplines, maybe we can help?

Keep us posted!

Thats the right mindset!
What I can recommend for version control is github, perhaps you've heard of it? There are also other softwares and services out there of course, though my team and I are comfortable with github (gitkraken to be specific). As for modular coding, I can't give a lot of feedback for I don't code a lot myself! I hope the internet can help you further.

Despite the fact this might be your first unity game, I think it looks and feels very polished actually. The art is really beautiful and does not get in the way of functionality at all.
I wonder, did you do this in your spare time or for an assignment? If the latter, do you aim to become a programmer, designer, or artist? (or something else)

Good luck with the next game!

Although it left me a bit sad in the end I liked the game. It is a very unique artstyle and I liked that I had to solve puzzles as a dog. The music was very sweet too :3

I found it fun to click on things and hear the thoughts of the dog :D

It made me think of my own grandparents and how important it is to keep visiting them. nice work!

I can understand, sometimes projects are done with friends but eventually we each have our own career wishes.

I am very excited to hear you're going to continue to study and make games, it really allows you to make games on a whole new level. And who knows, perhaps you will meet other people with whom you can make games again?

Such a lovely simple, funny, yet challenging game! Its very colorful yet minimalistic in design, it is all you really need. I really like how you are left without any instructions on how to play it, only to make mistakes in a funny way XD (scores being around 15-20)

I am curious to see more games!

What a fun game this is! I really enjoy the artstyle and music and I love the cute ghost!

I also love the gameplay. It is a lot of fun to be able to actually move the character yourself with the arrow keys.

I do wish it wasn't necessary to click on a recipe with the mouse before being actually able to make it. I use both hands at the keyboard so switching to mouse takes too much time in a management game like this in my opinion :)

I also wish it was possible to easily see how much time you still have on the accepted orders before customers are getting angry and I found it sometimes difficult to see if I had accepted an order and what order belonged to whom.

It is a very charming game and I would like to see the final result :D Keep up the good work!

This must have been a lot of work for your first game, during a game jam! Not to mention making the puzzles around runes. I must admit, I am no riddle games fan, but when I saw the runes I hoped I could cheat my way to easily beat the game since I know runes as well. Yet it proved quite the challenge, and really provided the thrill of wanting to solve the puzzle! XD

Anyway, I am very glad you aren't daunted by the stress you went through. Good luck with your future projects! :D

Nice concept!

Really interesting that the thing you are playing is not the one that needs protection from enemies like in most of these kind of games.

It takes time to get used to the fact that the object moves away from you insted of to you, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty nice!

Nice game concept! I could not finish the game, because it was too hard for me, but I liked it a lot :)

I am mildly disturbed. Thank you, I think?

What a great game concept! I loved every second of the demo.

It is so much fun to discover all the different possibilities and secrets when you play with different sizes.

I like how you have to think outside of the box to solve the puzzles and the music is very calming.

Great original game mechanic! Keep it up!

For something that is a prototype, I must say the pixel art looks very nice! It is too bad this version has no battles implemented this time, Im quite excited how that will turn out. I understand it might be a very ambitious project, certainly strategy games that require a lot of balancing. The most important thing is that you can have fun developing it, good luck! :)

Nice game! The animals are so cute!!! I loved them the most! :3

I think this is a really interesting installation. The idea of exploring your 'mind-palace' as it were, gives me so many ideas for different games. Well thought of and nicely worked out.

I had a lot of fun playing this game, the art and the music immediately gave me that classic adventure game vibe from the very first second! The hookshoot and a couple of other items were nice references to the Zelda series that made me smile, thicc!

I am very curious to see what other productions your team might bring us, do you guys have more projects in mind?

Nice artstyle!

Such a beautiful and moving game... The music did a very good job at setting the mood as well, it had me feel quite anxious at times as the story became intense! May I ask what your inspiration was for this concept?

Great concept!

Although I wished I could do a little more than walking alone, I really enjoyed the admospere and music of the game and the story you are walking through.

Great way of using the statues to give the player hints at what happened in the environment!

Nice work!

Really interesting experience, in a way it kind of made me feel like I was in a gigantic museum of sorts.. Well done!

I usually never play platformers, but something about the aesthetic of the game got me to give it a try, and I really like the fluidity of motion and challenging gameplay!

Since I'm not that experienced with platformers yet, I haven't gotten too far, but I'm guessing I'll be continuing to try and improve, because it is surprisingly fun :)

Thank you so much for playing our game! It was a lot of fun seeing you react and hearing your thoughts on the concept.

We hope you'll  try it out again once we update the game :)

Thank you so much for your kind comment.

You correctly guessed that you have to get rid of the darkness by hitting them with the beams! Sadly, if the darkness eats your butterfly before you do, the game brings you back to the start.

Most of our players didn't realize this, which means it's a design flaw on our side, so apologies for that, we're working on improving clarity.

We hope the next update will improve your experience even further :)
